Ok i was in a match were Ulik was up against a Destroyer with a Meteorite... i know the Meteorite does penetrating but i was curious... Isn't only the meteorite part penetrating? so the 1-3 damage it deals is penetrating not that 4 from destroyer, right? please clarify. I think only 3 max damage should go through not 7... cause Destroyer one shot Ulik and i think thats wrong...

To quote the text from the card:

Add the result to the attacker’s unmodified damage value for the attack. The damage dealt can’t otherwise be modified.

The Meteorite says that damage from the attack cannot be modified any further after the roll for Meteorite is added. Damage reduction is a modifier. Therefore, the damage cannot be reduced by Ulik's power.

No, once the damage is add to the character's unmodified damage value; that damage dealt it cannot be further modified. Thus. Destroyer (let's say) on his first click, with meteorite will do 7 damage (4+3 the maximum damage you can get with meteorite) that cannot be further reduce. Thus, Ulik takes all 7 damage.

does that work with imperv and invuln? if so meteorite is ridiculous!!

It does indeed - reducing damage is a modifier, and Meteorite specifically prevents the damage from being modified any further. Some venues have house-ruled it so that it only applies to the object damage, but that is incorrect.

so from now on im using a meteorite all the time cause that is ridiculously broken! Namor cracking 7 straight thru and then follows up with another 4! thats crazy!

Yeah, with print and play, and since the meteorite is golden-age only now, nanoarmor is the answer.

But it is still ridiculous.

It is damage which cannot be modified...period.

Penetrating damage can be reduced (such as with Life Model Decoy). The Meteorite damage cannot.

Penetrating damage can be increased (such as with a critical hit). The Meteorite damage cannot.

No, Meteorite's effect is not penetrating damage, it is its own mechanic defined by the text on the card. It is functionally similar to, but not the same as, penetrating damage.
