How I killed both Chase Supermen with Red Ghost and Super-Apes
Okay, so the title's a bit misleading. I played The Intelligentsia in a 1000 point game this weekend and went 3-0.
Mystic Doom
MODOK
The Leader
Mad Thinker
E Awesome Android
Red Ghost
Super Apes Igor, Mikhlo, Peotor
Wizard
I expected this team to tank, but I squeaked out a win against the Avengers (MODOK lit up Thor and KOed him like a big-headed lovebug) and an even squeakier win against an E-2 Supes team that had Saboteur equipped to Power Girl to neuter my Mystic defense. But I got ballsy, double TKed MODOK out to light up E-2 while he was diddling around with Mjolnir. Then Doom got in a shot on him as well, and then I plinked him down enough for Peotor to score the killshot. Then in round 3 I'm facing KC Supes, and once again MODOK lights him up, then Awesome Android clobbers him with a heavy object, and Red Ghost himself scores the killshot on him to herald the sweep of the whole opposing side - Doom lit up Magog something fierce.
INTELLIGENTSIA. I swear, if this Fall of the Hulks stuff somehow works the Bi-Beast onto this team, IT WILL BE THE GREATEST TEAM EVER MADE.
That was a GREAT story! You made my day, honestly.
Any time e-2 supes(or any tank like that) gets taken out by a poo-flinging super ape, it makes for a great clix moment!
I liked your theme, well done. It sounds like a fun team to field, and it sounds like you had a blast playing it.

We're overdue for Wizkids to make Joe on the Lawmaster and other 2000AD characters.

Never heard of Intelligentsia, but that team is highly rep-worthy!
They're behind all the shenanigans in the current "Fall of the Hulks" books. They are also apparently responsible for the Red Hulk. I hate the Red Hulk, but revealing that The Leader and MODOK are behind him makes him less annoying. Because The Leader and MODOK teaming up is f-ing great.
Check them out in Fall of the Hulks Alpha, I think it is. If they ever make an Egghead figure, he gets to be on it, too!
I thought MODOK died in the 80s. And Thinker and Wizard became more heroic in the late 80s early 90s? What happened?

MODOK has a bunch of backup clones to download himself into if need be. And I've got no idea what was done with Wizard and Thinker in the 90s. Or really ever.
This thread has increased my want of a MODOK figure. I'm just really digging his animated incarnation in "Super Hero Squad" atm, as well as the Marvel: What The-!? youtube videos featuring the character.
I have a buddy who put together an Intelligencia team a few weeks ago. It was pretty killer. Glad somebody else has seen the power of this combination, from the other side of the table. Me? I got my ### whipped.

I can't call them an underdog team though. When you see them across the table you know exactly what you're in for.
