In a friendly game the other day, my buddy dual targetted two characters and rolled a critical hit. His damage value was 4, so I thought the added damage for the critical hit would bring the damage dealt to 5. But my buddy said that since the crit was made while he was dual targetting, the damage dealt would increase by 2, making the damage dealt 6.
My buddy's usually up on his rules, but I find this dubvious. Can anyone point me to any rules/rulings supporting his position or to the contrary?

You were both wrong, though he was closer.
You would divide up the 4, then each would have +1 added to it.
EDIT: Page 9: "If you roll a 12 (two 6s) on an attack roll, you automatically hit the target, regardless of what you needed to roll to hit. This is called a critical hit. A critical hit increases by 1 damage dealt to all successfully hit targets."

There's the quote.
EDIT: I see it now. +1 to each successfully hit target.

I believe critical hits ad +1 damage DEALT, not +1 Damage.
So any damage dealt is +1 to all targets hit.
That being said you divide the damage like normal, then +1 to that.
Follow up question though. This guy has 4 damage, dual targets. On a crit you can divide your damage as 3/1. so the targets take 4/2. But if you divide it to 4/0 do the targets take 5/0? or does the target you delt 0 to take 0 +1?
I messed that scentance up, but you know what i mean.

Essentially you are adding 1 damage to the amount of damage you are dealing to each target. It does not increase your printed damage total from 4 to six.
If you are dual targeting characters with a damage of 4 then say you divide it up with 2 damage each, that 2 damage each becomes 3 each due to a critical hit.
I am pretty sure that if you were to divide it up where you give all 4 to one target, it would turn into 5 damage to one target and 1 damage to the other target.

Critical hits are one reason why it's often a good idea to use your multiple targets, even if you would give all the damage to one target and there is no advantage from different defense values to making a multiple-target attack.
