This DTV Movie is GREAT. I picked it up yesterday.
As I was watching it, though, I stopped to get out my Red Hood Clix.
Is there anyone besides the original Batgirl that got nerfed this hard in a very uncomfortable place? (REPortunity!)
Really, this fig was bad based on the comics, but now that you can see him in glorious fluid action, it just becomes that much more obvious. (Or I've had time to get over the initial insult, and this reopened wound is bleeding twice as brightly.)
I'd like to ask if this movie might influence the powers that be to remake this character, but Wizkids seems to have dropped the ball all along when it comes to making Clix based on popular DC properties that are animated. (We are still missing large portions of the cast from Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Teen Titans, and JLU!!)
definitely new a new jason todd made. but lamp post batman sums to play just like the batman from the movie. so does nightwing and alfred. bandaging up nightwing's leg after he was hurt. and trying to calm bruce down after he learns the truth. aks perplex.
i just wish the batman family get alittle range RS help. maybe a new huntress with a 8 range two arrows. with a SP that gives her RS & LC on those opening clicks. with a 10 attack with incap.
i also think on a side note. that they should get a ATA like nigthwing's trained by the bats' SP. which gives them ESD & CCR.
I don't think the Red Hood 'clix is BAD - it's a pretty playable piece for what it is - but it's definitely not comic-accurate. Especially considering that the Robin we got in the same set was almost the same point value and is a crazy useful, double-incapacitating, Brilliant Tactician... and we got a Nightwing who is even better.
I would definitely like to see a Jason 'clix that actually felt like he was trained by Batman.
Though it seems like it often takes them a few tries to get the Batman supporting cast right. Lady Shiva definitely does not feel like the most dangerous martial-artist in the world when she's on the Heroclix map, lol.
Oh man, we got a Negative Man and a Jimmy Olsen? Now I need to think of a new signature after all these years!
Great movie. Hadn't known anything about Red Hood. I was thinking about ordering the clix for him as a single because I didn't have it, but if he's that bad gameplay wise, I'll sit it out and hope for a remake.
Jason Todd couldn't have trained with Batman for more than 2-3 years in the comics, once you factoring the slowed down progression of time.
2-3 years of training doesn't mean crap. It's ridiculous as is that 1 year somehow makes you a ninja (See: The most recent Question). That said, Jason Todd doesn't need a revamp any time soon. Or ever, really.
Edit: And as is, he's playable, if not great. He might be compared to the Holiday Killer, which is fair...but the Holiday Killer also has a fairly ridiculous dial.

Well, here's his dial. Judge for yourself.

No, not at all. But I wasn't sure if this movie was an accurate representation...? I liked it an all but it seeemed like they messed with the Joker's personality a LOT and wasn't sure if this had carried over to other characters in the translation.
I'm amazed how pitiful the Supernova from Crisis is. The character in the comic is so much stronger than that. Crisis is a great set with some really powerful pieces in it, and it's a very modern set as well, and Supernova is one of the weakest figures in the set.
I think that (the old) Wizkids designed characters that weren't constantly in the lime light not too well. Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman they can nail every time, but characters like Red Hood and Supernova are kind of barely represented. It's important for these characters to be represented even better than the main stars because they won't be reprinted as much as the main stars will. The batman from Brave and the Bold is pretty disgusting, but we have a very decent Batman in JLA and some great ones in AA. We will probably never have another Red Hood or Supernova.

Well, it's not Jason Todd, now is it?
Jason is trained by Batman to be Robin. The Bat is pretty strict on how good one needs to be to be put in the field. So, at that point, he's ROBIN.
In the film, Alfred refers to him as "Gifted".
SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And, in the film, the events take place 5 years after Jason's death. And he has the unknown and undefined 'benefit' of whatever the Lazarus pit did to him plus 5 years of who knows what kind of training that he has been doing by himself.
Also, he fights and evades BOTH Nightwing and Batman and fights Batman to a near standstill.
But let me get this straight: You're unwilling to accept the plausability of becoming a "ninja" in a short period of training, but you're okay with a guy from another planet who draws his power from our sun, shoots laser beams out of his eyes, deflects bullets with his EYEBALLS, and, against all the laws of physics, flies, hovers, and INCREASES HIS SPEED WHILE IN FLIGHT BY PUSHING HIS ARMS FURTHER FORWARD??????

I hope you're not reading my post as "Does THAT seem like the guy YOU saw in the MOVIE!!??" Like I'm upset with you for asking the question.
Think of me asking it in more of a Socrates or Sigmund Freud voice.
"Tell me about your disappointments with HeroClix. Would you like a couch to lie on?"
Yeah, a friend of mine stopped by with the two disc special edition because he likes the animated features by DC. He's usually more of a Marvel guy but he knew I was a Batfan and he really liked it. He's been interested in clix for a while so I told him that almost all of the characters have been clixed. He was interested so I have some 'single shopping' to do.
One of the two doesn't try to play itself off as plausible.
Regardless, Jason Todd is no more of a peer to Batman than Killer Croc is. He's less of an acrobat than Dick Grayson and a mental midget in comparison to Tim Drake. He's universally viewed as the worst Robin.
Of course Alfred's going to describe Jason as "Gifted." The movie was written by Judd Winick, the very same nimrod who brought Jason Todd back in the first place. Jason's no more of a threat to Batman than Killer Croc is. That's really what Jason had going for him - antagonist factor. Which is where any lame-o villain will pose a threat, because that's what's demanded by the story. Jason Todd isn't Batman's peer, nor will he ever be.

I think we can officially call this The Summer of Todd!
I know that might ruffle some feathers, but it is a great time to be a Jason Todd fan, and I haven't even seen the new DVD yet!
Heroclix-wise, I would love to see another version of Jason/Red Hood made, but this time the sculpt needs to be a lot bigger, and maybe they could make it without the red helmet.
The Crisis dial was pretty good, but I'd love to see a remake with dual team abilities (Batman Enemy, and Batman Ally). I'd also love to see a Catwoman made like that as well. Very few characters could be given both team abilities at once.
I'd also like to see a special power which made use of his prowess with explosives (ie turn objects into exploding objects or something).
I know Jason Todd and Superman-Prime are controversial characters, but I do like seeing them in the current DC Universe, just not as much as I enjoyed their original appearances and characterizations.
"But when I think about Jason...and what I would endure to have him back..."
-Bruce Wayne, Superman/Batman # 12, Sept. 2004
1-900: Take an immediate poll of the room to determine whether or not Jason Todd may be used. If the poll ends in a "Yes" majority, Jason Todd may be used. If the poll ends in a "No" majority, this figure must be hit with a crowbar, then blown up.
If the poll ends in a tie, the crowbar may be used as a motivational device to break deadlock.
