Inspired by the "Am I Insane?" thread, I thought it would be cathartic if we all posted our worst Trades/Sales/Purchases that we've ever made. There have been some crazy ones out there. I would prefer not to have posts about people getting scammed by other people. I'm just talking about lopsided deals and bad decisions. Here's my first:
The worst trade I ever made was WAAAAAAAAAY back in the day. It was only a few days after Clobberin' Time had come out. I hadn't gotten my case yet, and I had only bought about 6-8 packs. Out of those 6-8 packs I had pulled 3 Unique Nightcrawlers. I said to myself "Great, I keep pulling these FREAKIN' things! They must be the most common unique in the set!"
A few days later I traded one for a Unique Desaad and a Unique Catwoman from Hypertime. I was ecstatic! Two uniques for ONE!!! It wasn't until a short while after that and ebay prices soared that I realized that I had made a HORRIBLE mistake...

My worst trade was offering 20 Uniques for a then-brand-new Parallax. Not a bad trade, really; most of my pieces were fodder anyway. But among the list of about 30-35 figures, were listed DC Ares & Ultraman. I've no idea who else was given up, but those two were a BEAR to replace! But at the time it seemed like a good idea; I'd no clue Parallax was so weak for his points. Ah, well.
The next tale was more karmic payback with a side order of "oh, wow". I'd worked a trade with a guy across the state, near my old stomping grounds, and decided to meet in person. On the way, I trip over a hobby store that wasn't there "back then", and stopped in. After sniffing around for 'clix, I find a bin of figs the owner used for his D&D campaigns--including one very special KC Green Lantern. He sold it to me for a mere three bucks or so! I knew it was worth more (he did, too, but was okay), but since it was a dupe for me, I wasn't keeping track of the market.
I meet up with the trader, and he sees GL. We work out a trade that was just insanely lopsided in his favor. But *at the time*, I was okay with it. After all, I'd lucked into a great deal, I'm just passing it along, dig? Well, a year or so later, I'm lurking around the WizKids trader forums, and eBay, and I see what that Emerald Warrior is going for.
Ouch! That one hurts, SR4! I wanted 'Crawler so badly back in the day, I traded my only General Zod and Mongul for him.
One bad-trade-combo that comes to mind for me (though I know I've made plenty of doozey-trades that weren't in my favor) was trading my never-played Starro the Conqueror and my only SR Doomsday for the Chase Spider-Woman...who now sells for $35.00. Oops!
To get said SR Doomsday, I had traded both my only SR Sinestro and LE Kyle Rayner.
Whatta maroon I was!
Of course, I've also made plenty of trades since then that were in my favor (thank you, Black Lanterns), so it all balances out in the end.
I think I was happiest when I was able to acquire a lot of the KC pieces over the hiatus. I am pretty sure I got some good deals on them. They are actively sitting in their boxes still waiting to be used.
Whoops forgot about worst deal...
Trading away Colonel America for a lot of nothing. There was a lot of it though.

Worse deal (s) purchases are where we got shafted - either no product (our first purchase on ebay) , or in the case of (one member still here) we got baseball clix instead of a KC Superman.
What would our itrader score be if sellers posted feedback, before waiting for us? . We are Canadian and as such we deal International.
I can't remember any ridiculous trading stories, but I've certainly bought some figures at prices that seem ludicrous after time has passed.
Most recently, I was bidding on a Sentinel of the Skyways, back when he was extremely hard to get. My max bid was about $100, and with a day to go the price had gone up to about $99 or so. Fearing that I'd be sniped (the auction ended during my working hours), I found another Sentinel of the Skyways and entered a second $100 max bid.
I ended up winning both auctions, and shelling out nearly two hundred bucks in total.

Owch! That Hurts! I couldn't bring myself to spend that much on nearly any figure...EVEN SILVER SURFER and he is my all time fave! I ended up trading my Chase KC Superman that I pulled from my Crisis case for all of the Judge Heralds and two Crisis SR figures back when the judge heralds were going for a large amount of money each.
Another bad deal for me was my lesson in patience. My brother and I were going to split a case of Clobberin' Time when it came out. He was away for a gig with his band and I had the case sitting in front of me. I couldn't wait. I opened a pack or two and didn't get anything spectacular. I was going to stop, but I was already in deep. I kept opening my packs. I only opened the 24 packs I had coming to me, but I only pulled ONE unique in the entire half a case...Unique Moondragon. When my brother got home, he was PIIIIIIISSED that I started without him. He opened his packs and got something like 7 uniques including a Nightcrawler. Despite needing a lot of figures that I had to trade to him, he wouldn't trade me any of the uniques so he could teach me a lesson.

REALLY?! You start this thread now? Okay, I'll play along. Maybe it'll do me good to talk about it.
I very recently made a trade, that I was extremely happy with. I received 7 Modern Age SRs, about 8 older Uniques and about 30 odd and end REV figs for a good number of my old Overpower cards. I hadn't played with the cards in years and years, and thought this would be a good way for one hobby to reinvest in another. I was very pleased, right up until I stumbled upon a few Overpower auctions on eBay. I can not believe that those old cards are fetching the kinds of prices they are. If I had sold the cards outright, I would have probably made $500-800. That'll teach me to research my trades a little better next time.

I honestly wasn't even thinking of this when I started the topic. As you can see from the first post, I cited what my inspiration was. The post in which I'm referring to was one where a guy traded a chase Nekron for a Rare Nightcrawler from Web of Spider-Man. Your deal looks good compared to his!

I just traded a Frog of Thunder for Thorbuster for no other reason than to help someone out. I'm sure there are people who would say it was a bad trade on my part.
Catering to the lowest common denominator since Feb 2003.

I made this same trade when HoT first came out. I happily received the Frog and the other guy happily received the Thorbuster. This one doesn't seem too lopsided to me.
Other than that just before SuperNova came out I sold off my huge pile of extras. What sparked it was my getting the last LE I needed from previous sets. I was so happy! I didn't have to keep all these extras to try and get all those LE's (I was a Judge and I completed everything that had come out so I should have been OK!). Then I found out about the Chase Figures!
I regretted the sale after that!

Those damn zombies are still the only chases that I need. Don't have a single one of them
