Now that we have Nextwave, I am really itching to field them against Foom in an EPIC re-enactment!

My Problem? 600 points of Impervious Foom vs 500 Points of Nextwave.

Solution: Feats!

Armor Piercing on all of them is a good choice since Foom does not take Penetrating damage- or is it ignores PB and EW? Either way Armor Piercing gets around it. That's 50 points for you right there. Monster Hunter on everyone. Vampirism and Thundering Blow on Elsa.

So, in effect.

Elsa will be AV14 against Foom and will deal penetrating damage that cannot be reduced below 1 and heals her if she's up close. I love Elsa.

So far:
Armor Piercing 10x5

=97 pts

All seem super solid, I hadn't considered thundering blow, that could be a huge help.

With that it seems like the strategy would basically be: having The Captain Ferry Elsa to base, have Monica carry Tabitha into range. Who cares what Aaron does, probably just run up. Second turn unleash hell+push Monica to give tabby enhancement. It doesn't much look like Foom stands a chance does it?

Do I really even need anyone other than Elsa?!

Foom doesn't ignore straight penetrating damage, he ignores PB/EW though.

AP on elsa is a waste, anything she does will get taken by foom unless he rolls SS which ap doesn't help. Monster hunter on elsa is a must though as she'll be swinging with a 14 for 4

So drop that AP on elsa for a protected cause if I was the foom player she would be target #1 and he's got the damage with multi attack to OHKO her.

Alias on Cap or Elsa.. Yeah.. stacking Monster Hunter on Elsa gives her a 14 attack and 4 damage.. Though it depends on if "Penetrating Damage" is now the same as "Psychic Blast/Penetrating Damage"..

It's not.

Penetrating Damage is damage that ignores all damage reducers

Psychic Blast is a ranged attack that deals penetrating damage. If you ignore psychic blast, it'll never deal the damage to you.

Similar but not the same thing. Foom can ignore psychic blast, but not penetrating damage,

So, minus 1 armor piercing= 87 pts, plus protected=95 pts, plus alias=98 pts.

I wish I could fit another protected or alias in there...

Foom might ignore shapechange so check that before going for an alias.

If he does, might I suggest lucky break for elsa, to make damn sure she hits

One simpler option may be to just reduce Foom's cost.
His cost per click is about 32 points, so by my estimation taking him down 3 clicks - to his first super senses click - should be about a 500 point version. This also gives him a bit better chance against Elsa, since ignoring penetrating doesn't ignore super senses.
At least that's how I planned to do the matchup once I get all the Nextwavers.

I planned to just take SI Nick fury, call him dirk anger and houserule him the nextwave keyword, and run 600 against foom.

Per the rules sheet:

Fin Fang Foom ignores the Earthbound, Exploit Weakness, Force Blast, Incapacitate, Mastermind, Mind Control, Plasticity, Poison, Psychic Blast, Shape Change, Stealth, and Support powers of opposing characters, as well as team abilities and effects that duplicate the effects of those powers.

So not so much for Alias. I can't help but think that you'd get more bang for you buck by dropping the Vampirism. Elsa ain't coming back by healing one click at a time. Maybe better off dropping it and going with Pym Particles on Monica and picking up another Protected.

Quite true, but this is a scenario game where that does not matter. I like your other ideal. Nick Fury's LMD could seem a lot like Dirk Anger wasting a bunch of time to kill himself. The battle's already moved on and he's sitting in a corner now. Haha.

I'd run SI Fury as Dirk, except that it'd not make story sense and he'd be a waste of 100 points (immune to outwit, cheaper perplex available...).

You may be right about vampirism. I had the idea of using rip it up on The Captain and Nanobots on Elsa, but it seems too expensive and time consuming for a chance at healing...

I'm not familiar with Pym Particles... gonna have to take a look at that one.
