This whole idea I've had has bothered me for awhile. When counting range, you count from the square adjacent to your character's square to the center of the target's square. But what bothers me is that if a target square is adjacent to your square, wouldn't you need a range of 1? So if a target were 2 squares away, you would need a range of 2? I know this sounds REAL simple, but should I conclude that a character with a range of 1 is pointless, and having a range of 2 actually matters because it would be farther than that adjacent square?
Boy, I sure have pissed off a lot of people lately on the interwebs. Sorry to all.
What about calling them "Papillomas?"
A character with a range of 1 can make ranged attacks against opposing figures on a different elevation. Wonderful way to surprise your opponent when you Perplex up range to 1.
But yes, not much point in having a printed range of 1.

Thanks for the quick response. That's exactly the lines of thinking I was on. I'm always looking to possibly perplex up my close combat guy's range to make a ranged attack, yet there's not much point unless I can get it up to 2. It is an interesting little quirk to this game, the whole range thing, but rules are rules. You live by 'em.
