Impervious requires the figure to be targeted, but Super Senses only requires that the figure be hit by an attack. Splash damage is enough to fulfill that requirement, and so Super Senses will activate against splash.
Originally posted by Tsannik Well, actually.... Supere Senses will activate on being hit be a successful close or ranged combat attack,
Not to be difficult here, but "Splash" damage isn't "technically" a close or ranged combat attack is it? It just results from a ranged combat attack. So "technically" by Tsannik's logic, Super Senses wouldn't activate. I could just be "loony" though too.
Since the Splash damage comes from a successful ranged combat attack.... Super Senses WILL activate.
I never said Splash damage was a close or ranged combat attack.
I said that the Splash damage came from a successful ranged combat attack (Energy Explosion did hit the intended target - a successful ranged combat attack).
Besides... HeroComplex's post should've been enough backup...
Okay, now I'm just getting picky, but that is what this forum is all about, right?

You just said Splash was not a close or ranged combat attack. You also said earlier (as does the PAC)that Super Senses activates when this character is successfully hit by a ranged or close combat attack. Now if being successfully hit by a ranged combat attack and being successfully hit by something that comes from a successful ranged attack are considered the same thing, then it all makes super sense (sorry, my blood sugars are low)to me. Otherwise I see a discrepancy.
If i can roll for super senses for energy explosion why can't i roll for super senses with mastermind? Since the mastermind damage came from a targeted attack. I really think it should only work when you're the one being shot at but could someone explain to me why you can use it for one because it comes from the targated attack and not another since it's coming from the targeted attack, being as how you have to target someoen to attack them.
Don't labor under the misapprehension that a figure must be targeted by an attack to receive damage, first. Force Blast and Poison, for instance, are superpowers which can result in damage for a figure, but neither of them is an attack.
In regards to Energy Explosion, it is a ranged combat attack with only one target (unless you happen to be using multi-targeting). The figures who can be hurt by being adjacent are not targets of the attack at all, merely figures who can be hurt also. If they receive splash damage, then they have been hurt by a part of the original ranged combat attack, but that doesn't mean that they were targeted.
Mastermind is something completely different. It transfers damage, but the Mastermind figure is still considered the original target of the attack; MM can shift damage (and knockback), but other effects of the attack remain unchanged. If MM damage is shifted onto a figure---they were not hit by an attack at all. They received damage from a superpower, and it is more akin to Poison then to anything else.
In the first case, the figure was hit by an untargeted aspect of the attack, which meets the requirements for Super Senses. In the second, he was not damaged by any attack, but by the effect of a superpower; Super Senses requires an attack, and so it will not be activated here.

Does that help?
