Dragon*Con 2012 is about 5 months away, and HCRealms will again be there.
On August 31 to September 2-5 (Labor Day weekend), HCRealms presents the 2nd HCRealms.com Dragon*Con Invitational Championship Tournament, consisting of several events across the 4-day convention.
We're not ready to share all of the events planned for the weekend but there will be plenty of casual and competitive events. While some events are still being finalized I am excited to tell you that we will have more events than ever!
What's not up in the air is prize support! Despite not being officially backed by WizKids, Heroclix winners at Dragon*Con have NEVER been shafted in the prize department. 2012 is no exception. Confirmed prizes include:
Custom Dragon*Con map designed by Grid Reality.
Two Spider-Man (Web of Spider-Man #100) figures autographed by Stan Lee
Plenty of LEs and OP kit prizes
And that's just the beginning; there's a LOT more in the works that we just can't spill yet until everything's in hand.
Even if you don't want to engage in the intense battles for the top, there's plenty of 'clixin' fun for you.
We'll have our usual Battle Royales, where four players buy-in with a booster purchase (ranging from the most-recent sets like Chaos War to discounted older stuff — last year we had Icons) and duke it out.
And we'll be bringing back the popular Quarter Table, where collectors can stock up on old REVs and CURs for just 25 cents a figure. Fill that gap in your set or match that orphaned flight base with the figures you've needed.
Make your Labor Day plans to be in Atlanta now! Visit dragoncon.org for convention information.
I went to Dragon Con about 8 years ago and it was pretty awesome. Got to meet a bunch of the Adult Swim people there, I think John Romita Jr. and Art Adams was there, and also got to meet Clutch for the second time.
There were also plenty of sexy ladies dressed as the Baroness, Vampirela, Princess Leia, and a couple of Zena's. I remember one girl had a dress made out of saran wrap, a couple of ladies running around wearing nothing but paint, and another girl was dressed some super hero that we could not identify, but lets just say the costume was revealing enough where we did not care. She might have just been a prostitute, who knows? There was also plenty of booze. Fun times.
If only I could satisfy my hunger by rubbing my belly - Diogenes
Wizkids...ignoring fan-run con events for 6 years and counting.
Oh boy! I need more time away from Emerald City before I post like this. Best of luck at Dragon Con. If it wasn't PAX Prime I would seriously consider going.
I might stop by on my way down to Florida or my way back. maybe make plans to coincide with my next vacation to Fla. since I planned going around that time. What sealed sets will be represented? Not a big fan of Icons. Would love GSX. If it's older stuff Legacy beats Icons hands down. Super Nova is really cool too.
My son and I attended last year and had an amazing time. The Atlanta group really put on a great event. We will be there again this year.
Look forward to seeing everyone again, and meeting new players. I am thinking about dressing, but nothing as awkward as Emma Frost (I still wake up screaming some nights)
