Need clarifications on Toughness, Invulnerability, Impervious, and Supersenses
When suffering damage from Poison, EE damage (target or splash, what's the diff?), or Pulse Wave damage, do all the following work in reducing/negating damage:
Like for instance if you roll a critical hit, I understand this just adds on to the total damage of a normal attack, but what about when you are trying to incapacitate. Is that 1 damage automatic, or can T, Inv, Imp, or SS negate that damage?
What about when someone gets knocked off of elevated terrain? It's normal damage + 2 damage from the fall, so is this total counted against T, Inv, Imp, or SS? Or is each part absorbed/negated separately, the regular damage gets absorbed (T, Inv, Imp reset) then the 2 damage from the fall absorbs can get absorbed as well.
Are there any other cases where one of the aforementioned super powers would work, but not another?
Impervious requires you to be the target of an attack. Thus, it does not work with poison or EE where the character is not targetted.
SS works whenever you're succesfully hit by an an attack. You don't have to be the target (i.e. EE) of the attack. Thus, it works against the splash damage of EE. Posion is not an attack though, so SS does not negate it.
Toughness and Invulnerability reduce damage period. They work on poison and knockback. However, knockback only occurs when you've used up all the damage absorbtion of inv/tough, so they won't help with knockback damage anyway. EXCEPT, for the case of force blast. Since knockback occured without the need of damage, they will reduce that knockback damage.

You are right about impervious, but not about Invul/Tough.
They don't reduce damage period, the FAQ states that "when a dice roll is made against a toughness/invulnerability character it resets" Poison does not require a dice roll therefore is effective in dealing damage to the Tough or Invulnerable target. Super Sense doesn't work on it either because an attack is not made. Impervious requires targetting, Poison doesn't target.
Knockback damage & Push damage cannot be reduced or redirected, whether a character has Toughness or Invulnerability does not matter here. YOU MUST TAKE PUSH & KNOCKBACK DAMAGE.
Super Senses works against splash damage from EE, because an attack was made to hit a Super Senses character. Toughness & Invulnerability can reduce splash damage, however they cannot reduce splash knockback damage. Impervious is useless here because splash damage does not target.
Hope this helps.

"Impervious is useless here because splash damage does not target."
Does this mean that Impervious would not stop ANY of the damage?
In other words...If a character has impervious as a defense, hitting a character next to him may be more advantageous than hitting him if you have EE because he would take the full effect of the damage, and not get a defensive Impervious roll. Is that correct?
Originally posted by tokencreature They don't reduce damage period, the FAQ states that "when a dice roll is made against a toughness/invulnerability character it resets"
All that means is that whenever the dice are rolled, inv/tough are at full reduction potential. They reset to this every time a dice roll is made against them.
But they work against poison because of what the PAC says: "Subtract 1 from any damage inflicted on this character by ranged or close combat attacks, or by power effects that deliver damage." (bolded for the relevant section) The last part describes poison.
4 total damage on Juggernaut with Invulnerability.
Inv. absorbs 2 damage, leaving 2 damage to be dealt. Does this mean Jugs gets knocked back 2 or 4?
Plus no one specifically answered the questions about critical hit damage, does it automatically hit regardless of Superpowers or can this single click of damage be absorbed/negated?
And my other question about being knocked off of elevated terrain. Going back to my Jugs example. He already absorbed 2 damage, leaving 2 to be dealt, but if he falls off the building for two more, is the new total 4 damage? (4-2+2=4).
Juggernaut gets knocked back 2. Becuase that how much damage that was dealt to him. As for falling off the building you got it right he would take 4 damage now. Falling off buildings and hitting walls add to the damage.
Critical hits always hit unless you make the roll for super senses or Impervious. Then you just miss.

Jugs would be knocked back for 2.

It will not automatically hit, any defensive power (Super Senses, Impervious) will still get to roll to dodge.

Okay, got the whole Juggernaut part down, but let me rephrase the Critical Hit question.
I understand the Critical Hit = auto hit, except when negated by SS or Imp. But for ex:
Let's say Wasp uses incapacitate on Jugs with Invulnerability. Critical hit occurs. Now does that 1 damage get dealt regardless of Invulnerability, or is it absorbed by the Invulnerability?
What if she attempted a normal attack of 1 damage, got the critical hit for a total of 2 damage. The critical hit damage still gets absorbed right, or again does that 1 damage hit regardless of Invulnerability?

It would be absorbed by Invulnerability.

Both points of damage would be absorbed by Invulnerability.
The SUper Sense and Impervious have in their wording that you miss the attack completely. So that super cedes rolling double 6's.
Now Wasp rolles double 6s to hit on Juggie. No mater what she's gonna hit Juggie. BUt not Damage him. Always hitting doesnt mean always damaging. No damage would occur becuase Invuln would still reduce the damage by 2.
