I played this figure in a match against a friend and we disagreed on how the leaders damage sp works.
The Leaders damage sp:
I can't stop your brute strength, but my mind is far superior: the leader can use outwit. Once per turn, if he uses it to counter a power or ability that isn't a defense power, he can immediately use it again to counter another power or ability that isnt a defense power.
i wanted to use the leaders damage sp to outwit an opposing characters outwit power and his indominable ability. i believed that i was able to do this because neither of the things that i outwitted were defense powers. He claimed that i would not be able to use the second outwit that way becase it could be argued that indominable is a defense power.
i told him that it was not a def power but rather a combat ability. He still said that it could be considered a def power . I feel like im 99% correct but it seems that only the opinions of other can clear this up.
Any symbols printed on the dial are combat abilities. These include your movement, attack, defense, and damage symbols. So yah. Indomitable is a combat ability and your friend is incorrect.
Of course, he is correct in that he can argue that Indomitable is a defensive ability. He'd be wrong, but he can argue it all he wants, according to his right to a personal opinion.

That's not technically correct. The symbols are combat symbols, which may grant combat abilities.
For example, the combat symbol grants two combat abilities: Flight and Carry. The combat symbol does not grant any combat abilities.
You are correct that Leader could counter Indomitable, though.

I'll clarify it further (and this is why you shouldn't close threads just because you think the question is answered):
The symbols on the figure base (not the dial) are the ones that grant abilities. There are three different classes of ability: Team Abilities, Trait Abilities, and Combat Abilities. Combat abilities are granted by combat symbols, which are the ones next to the window in the figure base.
