When your character is moving and he picks up an object doe picking up the object count as a movement point? e.g. I'm doing a charge with Thing so he could move 4 squares and long the way he would pass the desk. Can he pick up the desk and still move the full 4 or would he only be able to move 3?

Picking up an item does nothing to your movement. You still get your full 4 with your Thing example. The only thing about picking things up is, it takes a move action. Thats why (barring the fig has charge) you cant pick up an item and attack the same turn.

So, Thing would be able to move the full 4 and pick up the desk he passes adjacent to.

It doesn't take an extra speed to pick up an object.. you just have to be adjacent to it. You pick upt hte object DURING your movement. So think can charge at his max speed/2 and if he should pass an object.. pick it up and smash.. that is if you do not encounter an opposing force
