Here's a thought-exercise for you. What would a combined Marvel/DC universe/multiverse be like? My friends and I have been joking for a while now that Disney should just by DC from Warner Bros so we could actually have good DC films. If that did happen, I'd expect the two lines to stay mostly separate, except we'd see more "Superman/Spider-Man" type crossovers again. But the idea did get me thinking about what a combined universe would look like, starting from the ground up.
Captain America on the JSA seems like a no-brainer, but what about Jim Hammond and Namor? When Hitler invokes the Spear of Destiny to keep the super-powered Americans away, would Cap have led the "street-level" mystery men as the Invaders into Fortress Europa?
How would the Olympian and Asgardian pantheons interact? While Wonder Woman and Thor would probably be allies, what about Ares? He's been a villain in DC, but is (mostly) a hero in Marvel.
How would the plight of Mutantkind unfold in a combined universe?
What about the Celestials and the Guardians of the Universe? The Nova Corps and the GLC? The Eternals and the New Gods?
How would SHIELD interact with Checkmate and the DEO? Nick Fury vs. Amanda Waller?
Would there still be a separate Justice League and Avengers, or would it be one gigantic team with multiple squads?
If New York is still the domain of primarily Marvel-originated heroes, would some have popped up in Gotham or Metropolis?
How would Rama-Tut and En-Sabah-Nur have influenced the history of Hawkman and Dr. Fate?
Stark Industries vs. Wayne Enterprises vs. LexCorp. Who takes the market share?
What woudl the future look like? More like LSH or GotG?
Would Wolverine join the JLA just 'cause he's on every other team already?
How would Batman react to Spider-Man?
What would the Outsiders be like? Or the Defenders? What about the legacy teams?
What do you think?

When it comes to Superman and Batman, Grant Morrison is nothing but a 50's cover band in a 70's psychedelic funk style.
If we find some equilibrium in the timelines, I could see Darkhawk, Nova, Rocket Racer, etc joining the New Titans or Titans West instead of forming the New Warriors.
What would the Atlantis situation be like? Two royal houses? Namor vs. Arthur/Orin for the throne? Or would they have been cousins? Maybe Garth would've hooked up with Namorita instead of Tula or Dolphin...
I can see 50's Cap leading the charge against the JSA as a pawn of the McCarthy types. That would've been interesting, and perhaps a catalyst for the JSA's retirement. Maybe they'd come out of retirement when Cap was found in the ice.
What would it be like if Cap had been found by the early JLA instead of the Avengers? Or conversely if Green Arrow or Red Tornado had joined the Avengers instead of the JLA?
Venom on the Suicide Squad. Solomon Grundy vs. Man-Thing. John Constantine and Daimon Hellstrom, drinking buddies or back-ally brawlers? Eh, both, probably.
Zatara disappears, Zatanna trains under Dr. Strange.
How would Crisis on Infinite Earths, Secret Wars, Infinity Gauntlet, Invasion, Armageddon 2001, and all the other crossovers have played out? Or more recent ones, like Civil War, Identity Crisis, Secret Invasion, Blackest Night?
Would Superman be able to work with someone like Wolverine? Would there have been a Skrull-Thangarian War?
What else?
Moon Knight tries to set up shop in Gotham and Batman kicks him to the curb.

I think Wonderwoman/Thor is a great potential soap opera/love story. I can see her drawn to Thor, like she is to Superman, but Thor might actually return the affection.
I could also see her interested in Cap in a way she is with Batman, good love triangle possibilities.
I can see Daredevil meshed into a Gotham City backgeound, where all of the Batman circle like him because he is actually a decent guy but Batman hates him because he cannot control him.
The Thunderbolts would be fun mixing in some DC villains, like Riddler, Bane, Catman, or others. Giving some of them tere route to redemption. It would be interesting to have Bane try to go legit and see the friction with Batman ( ala Zemo and Cap).
"Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad,
He's so bad, he mak'a me mad
Un-fun Dad, un-fun Dad
He's a real cad, Un-fun Dad"

But would you be willing to put up with perpetually bad DC television shows as a trade-off?
If we DID have a merged DC/Marvel Universe, I think we'd
1) Need a separate universe aside from the current mainline DC and 616 Marvel universes - something designed from scratch with the specific purpose of combining the best elements of both.
2) It would need to be built up naturally with it's own history. You couldn't just try to squish the two together and see what happens.
3) Certain elements that are redundant might need to be cut, especially when it comes to characters who are for the most part lawyer-friendly versions of one another. Man-Thing and Swamp Thing in the same universe, for example, would be redundant.
4) Most the DC-specific cities would probably be better off being dropped in favor of moving their heroes to 'real life' locations. I imagine Gotham City and Metropolis finding a place in this new universe, but places like Central and Star City could probably have their roles easily taken by real world cities from roughly the same area. Even Metropolis and Gotham would probably become massive extensions or next-door neighbors to real-life cities to create new massive metropolitan areas.
I might try considering further possibilities for such a universe and how it might come together later, if this topic hasn't died out or completely exploded by then.
i don't think the x-men would have really any problems because of the abundance of metas everywhere. public relations wise they'd be good to go, however since they'd be classified metas lex would love to get his hands on them. oh and theres no way any members of the justice league would tolerate wolverines murdurous tendencies. have we all forgotten manchester black.
