I just got through with a bunch of "Marvel NOW" stuff, and I'm loving it thus far.
Uncanny Avengers - way better than I expected (based on the premise)
All-New X-Men - intriguing as all get-out
Fantastic Four/FF - something I'm a bit meh about; Fraction seems to be a fan of relying on certain tricks, but the characterization is more or less spot on
Indestructible Hulk - the most excited I've been about a Hulk title in a damn long time
Captain America - definitely looking forward to it, but #1 was a bit setup-heavy it seems
Red She-Hulk - Great little spin-off of Parker's GREAT Rulk run
Now, I didn't read much of the NuDC stuff, but it caught its fair share of criticism (or so it seems to me).
So, question for those of you who have read/are reading both: which do you prefer?
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?
Well so far nu52 has been a string of disappointments for me, which is a crying shame. I'll have a better angle on how I like Marvel NOW! once I get Avengers, New Avengers, and some of the other titles I'm trying.
Avengers Arena is a title that's really pulling me in opposite directions. I like the characters, but hate the concept. That could end up being one of the sour points for Marvel's rebranding.
Overall, Marvel's changes seem stronger to me. DC's "reboot" that isn't quite a reboot is already having continuity problems and weird editorial issues.
Uncanny Avengers - This has been awesome. The Red Skull is a maniac. Fantastic Four - Build up, it has promise. FF - Same as Fantastic Four X-Men Legacy - Not sure if this is part of Now but they killed the old title and restarted it at #1 again so I'm going to count it. Legion is an interesting character. I'm anxious to see how this series pans out.
Suicide Squad - Great fun. I love the craziness of this comic. Green Lantern - This book has been excellent. I was skeptical when I first found out Sinestro was going to be the Green Lantern but it has made for an awesome story so far. Red Lanterns - One of my favorite books. Full of action, new characters and favorites. Wonder Woman - Probably my favorite DC character since Rucka's run. The story has been fantastic.
I love all of these titles at the moment. I've always been a huge Marvel guy but I was finally able to get into DC characters because I felt like I finally had a starting place.
I've been reading a lot of both (my comic store does $2 comics, so I can afford to jump into comics that I otherwise would have just left alone).
I think the biggest difference is that DC did a half-hearted reboot that left their new world with a ton of continuity errors from the start, along with weird editoral issues (lile Owlman said) while Marvel's "Marvel Now" is pretty much just an marketing thing/"current era" of Marvel. No continuity was changed or anything. "Marvel Now" is the same thing as putting "The Intiative", "Dark Reign" or "The Heroic Age" above the title: It's just showing that we're in this current "era"/marketing gimmick.
With all that, I agree with Owlman that the New 52 has been on big disappointment as a whole. However there are some gems in it. For every garbage issue of Justice League, there's something like "Green Lantern Corp" or "Aquaman" to wash the taste of suck out of your mouth.
On the DC side, things that I read that I would recommend (top 3):
Aquaman- One of the best books DC puts out right now. It will be interesting to see if that holds up after Johns leaves the book after the "Throne of Atlantis" crossover with Justice League. Speaking of, how can Aquaman be so good and yet Justice League is a pile of doo-doo? Come on Johns ...
Earth 2- This book has divided a lot of people. As a long-time JSA fan, I was skeptical at first, especially since James Robinson has been very "hit or miss" to me lately with a lot more "misses" than "hits" as of late. However, if you come into this book with the mindset of "this has nothing to do with the old JSA, these characters just happen to share names and powers", then "Earth 2" is a decent book. I like a lot of the new takes on characters and I am a big fan of our arch foe "Mr. 8" so far.
Green Lantern Corp- The Lanterns are one of the few properties that hasn't changed in the reboot. There history is mostly intact and characterization hasn't changed. Unlike "Green Lantern" however, there is no feeling of Peter J. Tomasi phoning it in. The Corp is the GL book that truly shines (and it's full of a suprising amount of murder and mayhem, which is unexpected for a book like GL Corp).
Marvel Now! (top 3 so far):
Uncanny Avengers- Rick Remmender was "off the rails" in "Uncanny X-Force" and the same can be said here. I love his take on things. I love the concepts he's introducing and things he's setting up. Just a good read from top to bottom. And yes, the "new/old" augmented Red Skull is fantastic.
Captain America- See above. Except replace "Red Skull" with "Armin Zola". And for those who feel like issue #1 was set up heavy: it was. But I'd rather have us already up to our necks in Dimension Z mayhem after the first issues as opposed to dragging out the set-up across several issues, which tends to happen in a lot of modern comics.
Avengers- I love Jonathan Hickman. I have since Secret Warriors. I am "all-in" on this book after the first issues. Double "all-in" after Captain Universe, Cannonball, Sunsport and HYPERION showed up.
I look forward to Avengers Arena because I loved Avengers Academy so much. I realize that most of my Academy kids will probably die ... and I also realize that the premise is a straight rip-off of Battle Royale and the Hunger Games. I don't care. I will shed a tear for each Academy kid that is brutally killed and will continue to root for Darkhawk to go all the way (because it's DARKHAWK!).
I'm leary of the new Nova book starting next year ... but that's because Jeph Loeb is a hack and Richard Rider is my second favorite Marvel character of all time behind Steve Rogers. I have a hard time accepting a "new Nova" through no fault of the new kid ... I just love Rick so friggin' much.

Its been a very long time since I've bought NEW comics. I bought the AvX series, it was OK I guess. I hadnt planned to but anything more but the Marvel NOW launch got me to jump in for NOW (pun intended)...
my thoughts:
Iron Man - Not bad. Villain development is lacking here, but it is building up steam after the first 3 issues. IM was one of my must by titles when I was a hardcore collector.
Fantastic Four - Bought the first issue. I wasnt drawn in to this at all. I wont be buying issue 2.
Uncanny Avengers - I really like this title! Nice premise, CRAZY-A$$ Red Skull, some old time favorite characters. I'll continue buying this one.
Deadpool - Meh. Fighting ghost presidents? Im out after the first issue.
Thor - Never was a Thor guy, but he was fine in my Avengers books. I wouldnt have even picked this up normally, except when I asked the store guy for recommendations. He said hes been hearing great things about the new Thor. I picked it up and could not WAIT for issue 2! OMG love love love this! Easily my favorite title so far.
Avengers - Im going to give this one a few issues to pan out. I was confused as all get-out with the jumping around between past & present. Lots of new characters I dont know much about. I really want to like this one. I hope its not going to be "Hey we're the 1007 Avengers with 1000 of us just standing around with nothing to do" (ala Daredevil in AvX). I miss core team books. Six(-ish)Avengers, swap them around once in a while. Like the good old days. lol
Yet to try: All New X-men - Way turned off by the time traveling past characters meeting current version characters premise. But, Ive heard decent comments about this one so maybe I will pick it up. I do want to buy an X-men title since Ive always loved them, but I'm not going to buy 47 X-titles.
Worse, his civilian name is the name of Leob's deceased son, and Loeb has claimed that he's telling a very original story: a small-world kid who never thought he'd be something bigger suddenly gets superpowers. Never seen that before.
I am intrigued by Indestructable Hulk-I think it has great promise-I hope they do it justice. I want to see Jack Russel/Werewolf By Night in it. That would be kewl since the guv'ment is trying to turn him into a living weapon too.
The only DC title I am interested in currently is Batman Beyond Unlimited.
I am looking forward to the re-launch of Guardians of the Galaxy next year.

Any other suggestions?
Indestructible Hulk is a must-read, IMO. Solid premise.
