For those of you who haven't read Return of the King part 6 of 7, do not read any further!
Ok, so what's the deal with this issue? Personally, I'm severly dissapointed with Millar... The rest of the mini series has been masterfully written... the only high point of this issue is cyclops roasting logan and saying "Oh, by the way, you're off the team"
I really don't want to read 20 pages of a 'super hero' party, socializing with each other... They are super heros! They should be fighting evil, maybe have 5 pages of a party / socializing... but if it's not plot-enhancing material, why are you wasting my $2.25 on Tony Stark hitting on Storm?!
All I can hope is the Conclusion to the otherwise wonderful Return of the King series will end with a bang, and not just die off like so many other bad comics. Ah, but as this series ends... a team up with Wolverine and Spider-man written by (the man) Bendis!
i think that ultimate x-men is easily the worst ultimate book.
the current story isnt that good at all, it has some really cool moments but thats all it really is. Im positive that after bendis' run i wont even look that books direction.
I like the fact that Miller slows the story down with and treats the X-men as CHARACTERS rather then "fighting robots". He write people, not things. Issue 32 wasn't the most action packed book, but it was a good issue.
Theres only one Return, and it ain't of the King, its of the Jedi.
To be honest with you I thought issue #32 was one of the best in a while.
It's good to see these characters actually talking to eachother. Millar writes in such a way that the reader has too fill in the blanks sometimes, he don't cross the T's and dot the I's.
Thor and Jean's little conversation was pretty interesting, and Nick Fury's interest in the Beast as the first possible member to graduate from the school into The Ultimates was pretty clever, a little nod to the Beast joining The Avengers way back.
I was pretty dissapointed in the film's under-use of Cyclops, but that little scene with Wolverine at the begining of the issue really summed-up Scott, he may be a jerk some times but he's there when the chips are down (over the last couple of issue's) he delivers, and for all Wloverine's posturing Cyke can slap the runt down at the flick of a switch.
There are plenty of comics filled with costume's beating the hell out of eachother, go read them...
I'm not only interested in costume's beating the hell out of each other. The "Return of the King" series has been excellent and was building up, only to have magneto drop in the fifth book or so... It's rather a let down.
I loved the interaction, now that I've gone back to read it a third time, picking up on the subtilties that I missed when I was breezing through it the first time.
