I think all #024 Spider-Man needs is some team abilities to copy, and an Outsider to put the zip back in his Hypersonic Speed. So in an upcoming low-stakes tournament, I'm thinking about these two "fun" teams:
Team 1:
Spider-Man 125
CR Nightwing 79 Teen Titans, Batman TA
Firestar 81 Avengers TA
Iceman 104 X-Men TA
M10 Captain America 63 Initiative TA
Bruce Banner 55 + Telephone booth special object Sideboard: Outback Hulk
Team 2:
Spider-Man 125
CR Nightwing 79
AVM #014 Hulk 140
SOG #013 Batman 128
Lightspeed 25
Tank Turret 2
I'm leaning towards Team 1, because this is hilarious. But it doesn't have as much Hulk in it as team 2, and team 2 also has a Batman in it who can Charge with the turret better than Hulk can. Which is also hilarious.
Both teams have the Initiative (ie, Superman) TA for Spidey to copy so he can HSS through hindering. Both have Batman for him to copy after using HSS. I don't expect to see Nightcrawler, Chanos or Brother Voodoo, but there might be a slight chance of Barda in the forecast.
Which would you play? Do you have a good tactic for getting more out of this Spider-Man?

I like team 2 more just because it all hits a lot harder. I haven't gotten to use that Spidey yet, nor have I put a ton of thought into him, so I don't have a lot of advice on him yet.
aqhoffman- greatest post possibly ever
jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.
I love 024 Spidey, but I couldn't pack him with DC figs just for a TA. How about going Marvel Knights? The ATA on a Dr. Strange (GF) would work great, and also give you Defenders. Black Widow could give you Avengers Initiative. That's a good Team Ability core; from there add 240 points of beatdown, preferably with Defenders TA (Surfer comes to mind...)

Hmm, why not? I'm not a 100% slave to theme teams - sometimes there's something to a "big names from all over" type team. After all, Batman and Captain America have teamed up at least once in the comic books. I was already disqualified for a keyword theme because Firestar and Iceman don't have any keywords in common.
And my main goal with this 024 Spidey is to remove the -3 to his Hypersonic Speed - which Nightwing is really well suited to doing, as an Outsider. Spidey can't use an object to increase his damage while Outsidered (apart from the Soda Machine or Mailbox) but he will be able to leap 5 spaces over a building in a single bound, attack for 2, then swing right back another 5 spaces. That's going to be a fun sneak attack.
(Another downer - you can't throw an object during an HSS action.) Still, either Batman or Banner could use Outwit to help Spidey get past TOU/IMP/INV when necessary.

One thing I've wanted to try with that Spidey is exploiting his Spider Tracers power by packing the team with some good Barrier pieces. As for answering your question as to what team to go with, I'd pick #1. Any team with Outback Hulk waiting to come in is fun in my book. Plus you've got a lot of TAs to copy.
Boy, I sure have pissed off a lot of people lately on the interwebs. Sorry to all.
What about calling them "Papillomas?"
For a 500 point format I would go with a reporter team.
Spidey
Superman for second heavy hitter and Superman TA
Ray Raymond for Outsider TA
Rookie Question for Batman TA
and a combination of Peter Parker, Clark Kent, Jessica Jones, or Johnny Quick for perplex.
Make sure you have 6 and you have a reporter theme team giving you map to benefit your Spidey and Superman.
