So even though I haven't been on HCO for to long (about 6 months) it seems to me that there is a vicious cycle happening. Players don't want to come without new content being implemented and the developers don't want to add content and features without more players online and spending money. Personally I think that if HCO has any chance they are going to have to ante up first.
Myself I am geographically isolated so HCO is my only real chance to play clix. The last thing in the world I was to see is HCO dying a slow death and because of and causing less and less support from the parent company. The fundamentals are strong there is a ton of potential here.
In this thread I was hoping we could discuss just what features would attract more players. What do you think will draw players? Here are some of my ideas:
1) First and foremost I would say more figs. IDK if it is licensing, programing resources or what but the closer we could get to full set releases the better. I think a huge part of the appeal to playing on the tabletop is the variety you have when building your teams. (not to mention feats and such) The selection of tabletop figs really leaves you feeling like you have infinite possibilities, HCO certainly feels far more limited and I think that why you see people losing interest over time, they just feel like they've done everything they can do.
There are a lot of complaints about people not wanting to buy virtual figs but I think that would dissipate if the virtual figs existed in a world that was as big as and more closely reflected the tabletop world. I think this is why MTGO is so successful, it is the tabletop game on the computer, whereas HCO is ~20% of the tabletop game on the computer.
2) Support for 3 and 4 player games. In tabletop games I love the dynamics that are added with more people. Sometimes it benefits you to keep an opponent alive, politics come into play. It adds so much to the game experience. I know that programing wise this may be asking to much but it would be great.
So what do you guys think? I don't see a reason why HCO shouldn't be just as successful as the tabletop game. Obviously something is going to need to change to make it happen, the only question is what.
More access to commons for free, especially starting players. I got the WK dudes, and I've won a game here or there with them.. but there isn't much I can do to vary my force. Maybe make an experience trade-in, where the more you play (win or loss) the more common figures you can obtain. Keep the exclusives, uncommons and up to paid or code.
