I was playing Heroclix last night testing for tomorrow. Someone was using the JL team base and used working together. She used running shot for the one power action, moved 6, made a ranged combat attack and then resolved action one. She then however tried to use Outwit. I wasn't sure this was a moment you could use Outwit because of:
"During your turn, you give actions from your action total to your characters. When a character is given an action, that action can be used for only one power or ability that requires that type of action to activate. You must completely resolve one action before you begin the next action. Resolving an action includes resolving any free actions or game effects that action allows, followed by applying action tokens and then pushing damage to each character that received a second action token during that action."
For reference the wording of working together is:
"Give this character a power action and it may be given one action as a free action for every 100 points or fraction thereof of its point value. These free actions may be used for any action, but you may only give the character up to 1 move action, up to 1 power action, up to 1 close combat action, and up to 1 ranged combat action. Any number of these free actions may be used to make either a close or ranged combat attack"
So because that's how they're (the actions) worded in the 2013 core rulebook, and because it takes a power action to activate working together which then grants the use of 3-6 free actions, wouldn't the 3-6 free actions have to resolve before the action "working together" has resolved thus allowing the use of other free actions like Outwit and Perplex?
Notice how working together says the free actions can be uswd for any actions. Now they could use outwit but it will count as one of the actions from working together.
If the "working together" power action is over, wouldn't they then be allowed to use Outwit as it's own free action? Because...it's free.
Yes, you can. But because you still have not resolved Working Together so the free action for Outwit will consume one of the actions available from Working Together, rather than an independent free action.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
“No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style.”

The OP stated that the person had resolved the WT action(s).
The OP stated that the person had resolved the WT action(s).
Give that another read. It says the opponent used Running Shot for action 1, then attempted Outwit. He still had several Working Together actions to go...hence the question.
