THE BIGGER THEY ARE, ROBIN...: The Dynamic Duo can use Super Senses. When the Dynamic Duo is targeted by an attack, increase The Dynamic Duo's defense value by the attacker's printed damage value. This power can't be countered or ignored.
The current Pulse Wave wording is:
Quote
PULSE WAVE Give this character a ranged combat action even if it is adjacent to an opposing character; the area of effect for this attack is half the character’s range. Draw lines of fire to all other characters within the area of effect, including at least one opposing character; these lines of fire ignore all game effects except for walls, blocking and elevated terrain. Game effects possessed or used by characters with a line of fire drawn to them are ignored until the action has been resolved. If a line of fire is drawn to more than 1 character, this character’s damage value becomes 1 and is locked. Each character hit is dealt damage.
I know there have been other instances of 'This power can't be countered or ignored', and I know that it only applies to the text given (Meaning the Dynamic Duo's Super Senses could be countered, but not the modified defense), but this is the first time I've had a chance to use one of these powers.
I just played a friendly game, and the Dynamic Duo got Pulse Waved. Pulse Wave says 'Game effects possessed or used by character with a line of fire drawn to them are ignored until the action has been resolved', but the Dynamic Duo's power has the 'This power can't be countered or ignored.' An unstoppable force meets a unmovable object.
I believe any such rulings usually come down to 'Pulse Wave trumps all other effects', but I thought I would make sure. I know the Duo wouldn't get to Super Senses out of the attack, but I'm not sure if they would get the bonus to their defense. I would appreciate some help on the matter!
Changing how? The 'can't be countered or ignored' protects EVERYTHING under the special power, or PW now trumps powers that have 'can't be countered or ignored'?
You might be able to ignore Super Senses but you still will not be able to counter it....
Rulebook p. 18
Quote
A power or combat ability that is possessed by a character can be countered. A power or ability that is only used by a character can’t be countered, though often the power or ability granting use of that power can be countered instead.

OK. This is going to be the official response and hopefully I word this in a way that does not upset anyone.
From here on in. When a Special Power says it can't be ignored, it refers to the entire power AND any game effects granted within it.
In the case of Dynamic Duo and "THE BIGGER THEY ARE, ROBIN...:", the Super Senses granted by the SP would not be ignored by Pulse Wave. This means that if they were attacked by Pulse Wave, they would get to roll for Super Senses.
This will not be updated in the PG as the previous "ruling" was incorrect and was not actually supported by the rulebook or the PG.
This is how similar powers will be ruled henceforth.

Cool. That interpretation is considerably more intuitive. Thanks, Chris.

I'm extremely happy to know that something I argued tooth and nail for gets turned around to working exactly how I said it works. I'll go ahead and pat my own back.

I'm upset by the bolded. I prefer the term "from here on out."
