For Episode 106, join Adam Chapman for another Comic Tal episode. For this episode,Adam welcomes Paul Skorez back into the studio. Adam and Paul talk about what they've been reading lately, which naturally dovetails into many assorted tangents. We close out the show with comic book movie talk, recapping the past summer's nerd-centric films, and looking ahead to the future!
Zack Chapman makes his podcast debut in the background of this episode!
Congrats on the x men omnibus. Those are the days when I think x men!
To answer your questions on villains month. Well, I nerded out and bought them all even though I'm not reading even half the titles. I just went with the 2D covers. I went through the super Crome/hologram/3D/foil B.S. In the 90s. It's a gimmick I refuse to buy into. Actually lately it almost feels like the 90s boom again. Some of them are cooler than others. But fun.
Just waiting on Marvel to do something similar now. Lol!
Yeah, I seen the cover of the Lobo one before any of the others, and having forgot they were making the special covers, proceeded to lol at DC's neat little subtle joke/tribute to '90s covers on, of all things, a Lobo book.

Interesting, you bought into Villains Month for the chance to read 50-something villain-centric stories, as opposed to wanting the 3D covers, and then flat-out ignored those covers and went with the 2D ones. I wonder how many people went this route, as opposed to going for all the 3D ones.
I'm loving the Uncanny omnibus as I go through it, just some amazing, classic work.

I have an odd sense of humor
Heh, it might be odd, but I get it!

: D Good show as always bud!
Heh, I was surprised no one took us up on that and said "First!", so you definitely get credit despite only being third (c'mon, man, pull it together!).
Glad you enjoyed the show. I do intend on getting you back on the show one of these days, but scheduling Skype-casts is far more difficult now than even I expected. One of these days, I promise!
You know it's all good by me. We're still recouping money from getting the wife out of grad school, so there's not a ton of free cash to buy up lots of comics for review at the moment anyway.
As for the topic, I hated villains month. In my opinion the books were a cash grab by a DC feeling the effects of their numbers returning to a pre-52 level. The 'collector mentality' pushed me to buy all the GL and Batman books, but by giving me 4 of each title in the month, I decided to skip villains united and cut Red Lanterns from my pull list. I wasn't a fan of new 52 when it started and now my DC books are down to 2 after this past month. Also, the whole allocation issue is ridiculous to me. I forgot who said it, but the low numbers of books printed makes it seem like they didn't even believe in their own gimmick. I will say they put themselves in a bit of a tough, no win situation also by re-telling a lot of these characters origins. If they make it the same story, people ask why they needed to by this for a story they've already heard. If they give characters all new origins (eg Lobo) people cry foul and rant that 'This isn't the character I loved!'.
