Harry Nillson – You know, I never look at anyone else’s votes before I make my mind up. It keeps me from being influenced. The other thing I try to do is rate each song on its own merit. Then there’s a song Like this by Harry Nillson, that I just can’t think of anyone else on this list ever beating. Harry’s my #1 here.
Motle Crue – I ever tell you guys how I once went up to my hotel room and opened my door to see Vince Neil’s solo band, sans Vince, hanging out and smoking a fatty. The room reeked of so much reefer and I was in my business suit. It was rather funny and we hung and talked, albeit a bit awkwardly as I dressed to meet a client for dinner. One of my best friends, who by the way, just recently got off tour with Lisa Marie Presley, was bunking with me, and it turns out, Vince’s bass player was an ex band-mate or something.
Manfred Mann – I like the spooky I put a Spell on You vibe to this.
Hinder – Decent fare although I’d never go and seek it out on my own.
David Bowie – Lower fare from him. I love Bowie, but this song has never done it for me.
Doobie Bros. –Not a fan of theirs, and this song isn’t bad, but again, not my cup of tea. Besides, I had an ex gf who used to go out with the bass player.
Mark Gormley –This song just sucks.
Van Halen – Gary Cherone sucks worse than that guy Gormley
Manfred Mann - Not entirely convincing as the blues, but still a lot of fun.
Doobie Brothers - I generally enjoy their stuff, and this was no exception
David Bowie - Not one of his more interesting songs, but one can do worse than mediocre Bowie.
Hinder - Kind of indifferent.
Motley Crue - Okay power ballad, except I found the lead singer's vocals kind of irritating. It was like he had an edge of helium. Or chipmunk.
Mark Gormley - This isn't the first time we've seen this guy. Was he in a Rock Wars somewhere? Can't believe he made it back into the rotation somehow.
Van Halen - What happened to Van Halen? They used to be decent. Now, they're ranking below Mark Gormley. They should be ashamed.
Actually; I toyed with the idea of making this a two parter and then pit the winners against each other, but then I thought I might end giving that turd Chris Brown free publicity and decided I didn't want to be party to that.
There's been plenty of pop in other matches.

1) David Bowie - Really surprised here. I'm not even that big of a Bowie fan, but he easily won it for me. Nothing over the top, just a nice tune with an interesting vocal and drum beat
2) Manfred Mann - Is this Mod? kinda cool, I was tapping along the whole time
3) Doobie Brothers - speaking of Mod, they have some parts here that remind me of The Who
4) Harry Nilsson - a nice, sweet tune. I'm glad it picked up, because the beginning dragged for me but overall was a decent listen.
5) Motley Crüe - I love the Crüe, but no.
6) Mark Gormley - This one made me laugh because is was so bad it was good. And because it made me laugh it beat out....
7) Van halen - Ugh. This. Is. Not. Van Halen.
8) Hinder - 10mil views? really? WTF? These guys look like the hugest d bags. They look like 30-50 year olds singing in a video set at a high school.
And thank you Cap for sparing us from Chris Brown, he would be 9 on principle.
1) Harry Nilsson - loved this song since he first covered it. He stole it from Badfinger and made it his own.
2) Doobie Brothers - This is the Doobies the way I liked them, before Michael McDonald watered the band down.
3) Manfred Mann - These guys had it going on back then. Gotta get a collection of their 60s work in my library.
4) Mark Gormley - I love watching how awkward this guy looks in his videos. Like watching your dungeon master sing karaoke. I'd buy his album.
5) David Bowie - I liked everything about that album. Hard to believe that's SRV on guitar.
6) Motley Crue - Not as fun as Wild Side but not bad.
7) Van Halen - I liked a few songs by Extreme but this doesn't do much for me.
8) Hinder - Maybe I should have shopped around and used one of those two suggestions given above instead.

Quite a few good songs in this group! Nice listen, and I actually liked all of them.
1-Hinder- Most listenable, balanced, emotional, enjoyable song in the group.
2-Manfred Mann- After all these years, it just occurred to me that I don't believe I've ever heard a Manfred Mann song that I didn't like. As much as I love Bowie, Ozzy, Stones, Captain Beyond, Hendrix, they all have soings I don't care for, but not so for Manfred Mann. I'll have to dig further.
3-Doobie Brothers- Very Nice
4-Van Halen- Well wasn't that surprisingly refreshing! They've been through so many band and style changes, its been hard to keep track, but I like this phase!
5-Mark Gormley- Great song, so underappreciated. Kudoes to the nominator. When watered down and washed up songs like "Lady" win Rock War rounds over actual good music, you can't expect people to appreciate a guy like this. He's been offered TV appearances and declined them, just loves to make music.
6-Motley Crue- Surprisingly good.
7-David Bowie- Not my favorite Bowie song, but did make me go listen to "Cat People" one more time.
8-Harry Nilsson- A classic, but so dated after all these plays.
Wow, just read everyone's comments, and I swear I wasn't trying to pick any fights! I vote before reading other people's comments, so just looks like I was on a different planet from everyone else this time. Fortunately my planet has a great soundtrack!
I'm really not a Hinder fan, never listened to much of their music, but am surprised that they are last on so many lists! And first on my list. Maybe I need a Xanex or a drink or something, a readjustment device of some sort!!
