At the beginning of a turn, can Question choose to lose Smoke Cloud, gain Stealth, then choose the Black Light Ring and use Smoke Cloud from it?

Question's Trait:
PAST LIVES: At the beginning of your turn, choose a standard power from Question's character card; he can use that power until your next turn. When you do, choose a power Question possesses and it is lost until your next turn.

Power Plant:
Ring Selection - At the beginning of your turn, you may choose a Ring, remove it from the Power Plant and place it on a friendly character's card. That character can use that Ring's effects as if it were a relic. When that character clears, return any Rings on its character card onto the Power Plant.

Black Light Ring:
This character can use Smoke Cloud as a free action. Opposing characters that begin their turn in a square with one of these terrain markers placed by this ability modify their speed and range values by -2. This character and adjacent friendly characters can use Stealth if they occupy a square with a terrain marker placed by this ability.

Yes. As soon as question 'loses' his smoke cloud the Black Light ability to use smoke cloud will kick in.

I like the way this works.

Why even choose stealth through his trait? I usually pick up Super Senses or Shape Change if I don't plan on attacking since the ring grants Stealth on top of the free Smoke Cloud already.

It only grants stealth if you put a hindering terrain marker underneath yourself. Sometimes, you want to smoke at a distance.

Choosing Stealth was just an example. Like if I wanted to put a smoke cloud under opposing figs but didn't have any left over for myself.
