POWER NEGATION: Other characters within 6 squares can't be given power actions.
Quote
LINK TELEPATHICALLY: Friendly characters within 4 squares can draw lines of fire and count range and squares from the square of any one friendly character within 4 squares of Tellus.
If I have Leech within 4 square of tellus, would that mean any character within 6 of any figure in the telepathic chain would be "within 6 of leech" and thus dampened? (leech tries to figure out what he can hit, and tellus says "USE SOMEONE ELSE'S square to count.". when leech tries to figure out if a particular fig is in range he chooses the closes friendly he is linked with, and if they are within six of that, he dampens them)
I feel like it was probably intended that Tellus work with powers like this (whether it was well thought out to intend such a thing is a separate issue... I generally think that tellus's power was a bad idea for the game on a fundamental level. Not highfather ruining things bad, but 'causes too much weirdness' bad. He is like a competitive Mad Hatter), but am not sure if this is how the oranges (and community) think it should be ruled.
As it's currently ruled, this works. There have been similar powers before with similar outcomes, though nothing so easy, cheap, and all encompassing as Tellus.

T is Tellus.
If a Leech friendly to Tellus is in the "box", each of the friendly characters in the "box" (including Leech and Tellus) provides a starting point for this Leech's Power Negation.

This is Tellus's Link Telepathically field of range. Any character friendly to Tellus (including himself) can draw line of fire and count squares from another friendly character within the 4 squares of Tellus (including himself).
Although Tellus himself can count 4 squares from any character within 4 squares, it can't be chained to create another 4 square area as those squares he is counting from still have to be within 4 squares of Tellus (physical sculpt), not within 4 squares of where Tellus can count 4 squares.
Expanded Tellus And Leech Example (A.K.A. Adventures In Courier New)
(Again, this is my understanding.)

(S is shatterstar, L is leech, T is tellus, A is any figure)
Choose to count leech to shatterstar from A, which comes out with "not within 6" and therefore have him be NOT power dampened, and therefore able to teleport leech?
Can boomerang start drawing his LoF from the square lockjaw occupies that is outside of tellus's range? (tellus tells us WHO we can draw from, but does not limit which of those characters' squares we can choose to draw from)

Shatterstar is within 6 squares of Leech; Tellus does not change that. Tellus expands the potential range/area of things. He does not shrink them.

So we can use multiple figures at once for a single power or trait? Also, what is the timing for something like this? "I'm using a Power Action." "You can't, I'm having Leech count squares from X for his power." "Ok, then this guy will take a Power Action." "Can't, now I'm having him count from Y." Reminds me of the old WC rules.

jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.

No power actions for Shatterstar.
Wait, so even if you choose to count from Tellus' square then those within 6 of Leech are affected? Does that mean if Leech was replaced with Black Bolt that he could Silent Scream with an AOE of 5 from himself AND 5 from Tellus (And possibly 5 from an Astral Strange 4 away from Tellus)?

That's exactly what it means. Nothing in the description of Tellus (or Concentrate On One Projection) says that you count from X INSTEAD of from Y. It is all one, big LOF-party.

So is that a yes or no to the choosing to figure out if shatterstar is within six of random other figure for counting his power?
I feel like this should work, since tellus's power means you are not obligated to use leech's square for counting.
Also you aren't obligated to use every possible choice, you just always need to choose SOMETHING (including the original figure) each time you count squares or draw LoF.
The "you can't NOT count from leech's occupied square" problem is why I wanted to know whether or not his power actually interacts with Tellus's ability properly. I could imagine MisterId ruling that AoE effects all suffer the same problem that Tellus's own trait does, whether you count from other squares or not, what is "within N squares" is NOT variable.

Lol, that's awesome. I thought that might be the case because PX got errata'd to say a single friendly. I'm definitely going to do this once though.
