I would like to see a seperate but similar Star Wars game that uses the same mechanics but on a Capital Ship level.
The sizes of the ships would have to change with maybe the CR90 corvette (Tantive IV) being a bit smaller than the A-Wing so the scales can be more to true.
A flight of fighters could still be represented in game as well on a similar base.
This should us Star Wars fleet fans a way to act out some larger scale battles.
I played a couple games of BattleFleet Gothic with some conversion rules for Star Wars a few years back and enjoyed it a lot.
Anyone else think this could work?
Would any of you play something like this?
Most of my experience with Star Wars (almost no EU exposure) has the capital ship sitting around while the fighters go at it. I think X-Wing does a great job at capturing that. Are there examples in the EU of capital ships attacking each other in large scale battles?
Either way, a CR90 at the size of an A-Wing would make an Imperial Class Star Destroyer around 14 inches. Which would make the Executor around 17 feet long, if we are staying to scale (about 4217:1). Granted the Executor is supposed to be the biggest thing ever at 19,000 meters.

I would be ok with scale being close, not exact. And the Executor would be too big no matter what, probably just from a points perspective.
I would love to see this, as well as a ground forces game including AT-AT's, AT-ST's, Snowspeeders, Turrets, Infantry and the tons of EU ground forces including Hovertanks, Sandspeeders, Skiffs, TIE Crawlers, etc. I'm not sure how they would make the troops to scale, but I'm sure there's a way.

Someone 6' tall would be a 1/4 inch in X-Wing scale.

Ha! Yeah, maybe if they were sold as squadrons, platoons, groups, etc. Led by certain officers.

You have to assume there's a Star Destroyer just off board already, right? TIE fighters are short range, lacking hyperdrives.
We saw some capital-on-capital action in Jedi, if I recall correctly. The Rebel fleet mixing it up in close with the Star Destroyers, and I guess there was some of that in the third prequel movie above Coruscant? And we occasionally got to see that in some of the X-Wing and TIE Fighter games. It doesn't strike me as super interesting, though, as they basically just slowly cruise past each other, bathing the other ship with as much laser fire as it can until one of them crumples.

That's ~6mm scale, which is pretty common for sci-fi games based around larger vehicles or many infantry. The figures can be surprisingly detailed, too!
