Lil question I have regarding my latest evil scheme:
Scientist theme team: Doom/Kang, FF Prof X w/New Mutants ATA, FF Legion Of Doom Lex Luthor, random scientist.
Doom/Kang and Lex copy New Mutants ATA.
Doom/Kang gets hit, passes the damage to Lex via New Mutants.
Lex uses Mastermind and passes the damage to random scientist.
Any reason that wouldn't work?
Ok first the powers:
Mastermind
When this character would be dealt damage, you may
instead choose to have all the damage be dealt to a single
adjacent friendly character with a point value less than this
character's. Any additional effects of the damage dealt
(knock back, penetrating damage, etc.) are applied to the
character taking the damage. Damage dealt by this power is
not an attack.
Whenever a character using this team ability would be dealt damage, you may give an action token to an adjacent friendly character using this team ability. If you do, deal all of the damage to that character instead.
I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work as written.
So yes this would be a nice little combo with Bizarro

Is that the current wording for Mastermind? I thought they made "damage transferred this way cannot be transferred again" part of the power. It may be in the player's guide.
Waller KOs: AA Robin, Kid Devil, Joker, Question; AW E Cap; FCBD Iron Man; Miracle/Oberon; John Stewart x2, Iron Patriot; Shatterstar; IH Herc; CW Photon & Nitro; FF Nite Owl; 10An R Thor, E Iron Man, Weapon X; FF Kilowog; Hugo Strange; Calender Man; Legion Cosmic Boy & Lightning Lad, LE Pete Wisdom

Yes, that is the current wording for Mastermind. The addition you are thinking about has never been added to basic Mastermind.

Huh, nothing in the PG either. I could have sworn something had been added to make the "may not be transferred back to this character" part of the special version on lot of characters redundant, but I guess not.

The "cannot be transferred further" wording is usually on SPs that allow a figure to MM onto a higher-point figure. It's meant to prevent massive stalling by transferring damage onto a higher-point figure with MM and then transferring it back to the original figure...and back...and forth...ad nauseam.

That and it is to prevent people from being able to take any damage not from PS or PW and reduce/ignore it to 0.

You could always just chain normal mastermind for added simplicity. But I guess this way lets more figures daisy chain damage transferring.
Doing it through New Mutants allows me to give effective Mastermind to figures that don't usually have it.
By using it with Kang/Doom, you not only had to hit a 19 D twice but, having done so, you got to watch me transfer the damage to Lex Luthor...and from Luthor to the GL Initiate pog that was carrying him.
It works as long as Lex can be given tokens. Once he has two tokens, you can't use the NM ATA to give him damage.
Also, beware precision strike which will ruin everything.
Using GL Initiate pogs to ferry Lex around helps with that. And, yes, Precision Strike would be the Scissors to my Paper. Pulse Wave isn't fun either. But if it had no weaknesses, I'd be World Champ, right?
I'm also considering a Mob version of the same concept.
I have a related question regarding New Mutants ATA. When using the ATA and transferring the damage, the character on the receiving end is still allowed to use damage reducers, correct? If so, would that also mean the character with Impervious would be allowed to make their roll to ignore all the damage?
