interesting choice for a first episode. I am somewhat surprised Bullseye wasn't mentioned in the list of "meta figures you should have." Or maybe I missed it somehow.
I agree, you need good money manegment skills to play competitively. But I don't think it is completely necessary to play a resource, entity, or iron pharaoh. I'm very much a casual player, but I enjoy ramping it up and seeing how far I can go, so I do play competitive.
I'm also super cheap. And super bad at pulling stuff. Which means I don't have high dollar figs or trade bait (or not any that I would part with XD). Nearly all my teams will consist of CUR, and with the right stuff you should be able to pull out some wins against anything (dice permitting).
I've already discussed most of part 2, but before moving on I want to say, sometimes the favorite characters aren't super meta pieces, but can still get you pretty far. AvX magneto is probably great against IP since he has traited ESD and top dial invincible. But your other 100 points would have to be really well thought out. I am a big fan of spider-man and John Stewart. And I freaking love playing Hulk. They have pieces I would look at to build meta teams around. Not many, nor very good, but the shock factor alone could pull the win out for you.
As to part 3, I agree. Don't hate, it's a game. Have fun. I don't care if I'm winning, I just want to move my lil figures across the board and crack terrible jokes. It's a stress reliever, not a stressor.
Good podcast guys, and overall I think it was good. I loved how James was smirking and nodding his head while you told how he would dominate you Spencer. Cracked me up.
And then you rearranged the whole table set up right before the summary. I was amused by that 2 second change up of the whole table, intentional or not.
Over all, not bad. I would like to see an unboxing, just to see the sculpts and paint jobs of new figures. I also think a 5-10 minute podcast discussing the new figures could be fun if done in tiers (ex: five minute video on the commons of the newest set, then another on uncommons, another on rares, etc.).
