Ok so we have been going back and forth between stores to figure out a solid ruling based on the wording of Mind Control, and I believe we are right because of what the wording says, but a lot of people disagree. So we decided to leave it in the hands of the professionals.
Give this character a close or ranged combat action (minimum range value 4) that deals no damage. A successfully hit target becomes friendly to your force. Each target hit may be assigned one action as a free action, immediately after which the target becomes an opposing character again. Deal this character 1 unavoidable damage if the successfully hit targets’ combined point value is 150 points or more.
Now, because of the wording, it states that a hit target may be assigned ONE action as a free action. Here is the wording on Charge.
Give this character a power action; halve its speed value for the action. Move this character up to its speed value and then it may be given a close combat action as a free action. This character ignores knock back.
Now, if I mind control someone to use Charge, I would not be able to make the attack because once I am given the power action to charge, that is considered the one action, thus the reason I cannot be given the close combat action to attack. I believe this to be true because even though it's a free action, the same rules apply with perplex and outwit. If I mind control someone to perplex, perplex would be considered their one action, even though it is a free action, it is still an action. Please let me know that I am correct in thinking this.
Yes, it works because within that action, you get another action. Charge, RS, Flurry, HSS, or any actions that give you a free action during that action are part of the action that MC would give you to use.
However, if it were to say "after actions resolve..." to do something or give another action, MC does not let you use that part as they are no longer friendly to you after the action ends.
Also, when you bring Agent 13 or the Green Battery into play, it causes a bit more confusion, but that's not your question.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
QUANTUM TELEPORTATION: Quasar can use Phasing/Teleport. When he does, if he moved 5 squares or less, after the action resolves he can make a ranged combat attack at half range as a free action.
would not work because his attack occurs after the move is completed.
That makes sense, but they really should reword Mind Control because the way it is worded makes it sound like you can only be given one action, period. I am on a quest now to make this happen lol.
It can be confusing to newer players, but the Player's Guide does include clarifications like this... not the most convenient place (since you have to look it up online to even find it), I know, but there are places for clarification.
Also, when any action grants another action/power within that action, it's considered one action.

Lol unfortunately I am not a new player, I have been playing for quite a few years, but I am also very literal, that is where my problem lies lol
The rulebook is quite literal about it.

Resolving an action includes resolving any free actions or game effects that action allows, followed by applying action tokens and then pushing damage to each character that received a second action token during that action.
Yea, I'm with these guys. The wording is fine. It says give an action. Charge is an action that lets you move and attack. Not move THEN attack. It's all one action. Now, it's a free action WITHIN an action, so things that mess with free actions kicks in, but it's still all part of one action.
