Im not going to mention names but a store thats been around Utah for 15-20 years and has always been high in moral integrity...... has fallen to low levels.

For the past few months I have been paying $20 each for myself and 2-3 others to do the Collective series. Now we have been told by the tourny organizer that we will not be playing for the month 3 kit since the owner has decided to sell it online.

The only reason I was buying blind boosters for myself anf the others for the event was because I was under the impression we were playing for the Assimilation Prime. I would not have bought any of the blind ships since I can get a set online for cheeper and not get dupes If I had know he was going to do this to us.

He is also selling the other grand prize kits from other campaigns now too.

This comes after I had asked him a month ago if he would be interested in selling me some kits for personal use since he had 4+ of each kit and he flat out told me "I cant do that, we dont sell kits, you know that"

On weds, I will be showing up for the planned and schedule month 3 event. Right before the event I will be making my monthly purchase of 4-5 ships, tourny blind entries and the giant cube I was planning to pick up.

When I go to pay, Im going to ask him about the kit, and if we are indeed not going to get it. If he tells me no.......he loses the sale(except for the damn USS Defiant i can find no where else) He will also lose my comic holds.

I was also told by some magic players that the 4 cards that are to be given out each week at FNM....also not going out as required, only 1 of the 4 make it to players hands. And the last From the Vault(premium product, very limited and hard to get)... Instead of selling in his store at retail like most stores(and as directed my WotC).... the 12 the store got went up on ebay.

Ive been going to this store for 12-14 years now, am/was good friends with the owner.
Now..... I may never set foot in the store again.
Congratz to ####### you have now joined the likes of HBGB's as the worst ethics in the business.

I don't know what WK does to enforce things but those people at WOTC beat down hard on venues that are unscrupulous with their prize support.

Is the owner struggling financially? Is he just greedy? Either way that is one of the side effects of dealing with these types of products hence the healthy secondary market.

I'm not condoning it, but I am saying give him a chance to make it right by warning him of the consequences that he himself agreed to. Sometimes people make bad decisions and need someone to help them straighten their priorities out. Reporting him may have far worse consequences than you not getting your little plastic ship.

Ouch, that is rough.

I'd second what Galactus said, approach the owner directly, confirm the situation, relay your disappointment (if need be)....if nothing has changed, then reporting the venue seems like the only way to go, sadly.

Hopefully it won't come to that.
