So, this came up tonight.

I was playing the Orange Power Battery, with some constructs assigned to figures.

The opponent was playing Cat. Cat's Trait:

REPLACED IT WITH A BROKEN FORGERY: When an opposing character with a relic or resource assigned to them makes an attack, that player rolls a d6 that can't be rerolled after actions resolve. On a result of 1-2, that player chooses one: remove the assigned relic from the game or remove an item attached to that resource from that game.


After a couple attacks, I had 2 constructs on character cards, but my remaining construct on the Battery had been removed, along with the Orange Ring.

The question that we had then is what happens to any assigned constructs? And what can the OPB still do?

The Emotional Spectrum had been lost, that much was certain, but it wasn't clear if the assigned constructs would be removed from the characters, or if the Power Battery was still able to use its' special powers, like swapping constructs, etc.

It was eventually decided after some lengthy debate (drinking was involved on all sides as well) that the constructs would stay assigned, but the Battery would be unable to use any special powers. Fortunate for me, as it had a 12 range PC that was still usable.

Was this the right decision?

It is a similar situation to Lydea stealing the Battery Ring. The Battery can still use all it's powers, including the special powers, but can't use it's emotional spectrum.

First you were correct. The Constructs that were already assigned to characters were no longer attached to that resource so they would stay on the assigned characters.

However, you were incorrect in thinking you could not use any special powers. Special Power 4 Can still be used while there are no constructs on the Power Battery. Also, Power 2 could be used to swap the constructs between the two characters. So you could still advance the Power Battery until you get to Power 5 by itself. If you hit that point then you are stuck.
