So I see a lot of people consider the 50 point and the prime but no one considers the 80 point chase? Is there a reason for this? I feel like the chase with eclipso is pretty nasty.
He isnt looked at as much because he doesn't have psyblast or pw starting out with is really a big thing rn. Also, he only has six clicks and can be taken out by a lot of pieces in one turn with just some support. A lot of pieces have something better defense wise rn, such as super senses or dmg reducers that are just soooo much better. So it just isn't worth it to use 80 points on him when he'll maybe get 4 clicks, maybe none.
He is an awesome piece, I'm looking forward to exploit him, with brainiac he is able to do 5-6 damage thanks to his burning special effect.
Its true that his comon version +5pts + eclipso is great (also 80 points). But him with Brainiac is only 105 points, and guess what, they are dirty cheap. all 3 versions of sunfire are great, but I found the most entertaining to play the chase with brainiac...
Something I've noticed is that Sugar Man is the least desired chase (only one version of him) followed by Colossus (two versions). Yet the ones that are the most highly sought after have three versions! I figured the reverse would be true.
I think Magneto was so well done this set. Each version is truly amazing. For the points you could argue the Chase is actually the worst of the Magnetos (the other two are just so cost efficient), but he's the most FUN (kw granting and scrap metal shenanigans). Plus he's Magneto so he'll be the most coveted figure at any rarity.
Sabretooth is similar. The chase is super FUN so people want him and I think he's the best version but the rare is right there with him.
Weapon X is easily the best Wolverine in the set. The other two really don't compare. He doesn't NEED Colossus to be effective but its a bonus (whereas Colossus needs him).
Then there's Sunfire. He's like Magneto in that he was very well-done at all rarities and is super cost-efficient. However, the other versions are just as good as the chase without the unique/fun factor that Magneto or Sabretooth have and isn't a super popular character either. So people who have him like him, but I don't think he's that much of an upgrade for the points over the other versions. So there's no reason to go out of your way to chase him if you didn't happen to pull him.
I got him and promptly traded him for Sabretooth as that piece has a higher fun factor with the deep dial, autoheal, traited Flurry and wildchild. Of the four chases the only two I don't have or want are Sunfire and Sugar Man. I think for the price tag a chase commands, if it's just as good as its rare counterpart and is pretty vanilla and easy to kill, you'd might as well sell/trade it unless you're a big fan of Sunfire.
Again, it's a great figure, just not anything special. Personally I like the Prime or Rare with stop click much better. Once you start talking about putting an entity on a figure to say how great it is, you're already losing me. Of course a figure is going to be awesome with an entity... It's an entity!
