Ok well a friend of mine was playing a all speedforce team and this came up
Code:
SPEED FORCE: When [CHARACTER] moves at least one square and hits one or more adjacent characters, you may place a Speed token on this card after actions resolve.
Lets say it was Max Mercury [fl002] since I think it was this guy
he got charge on his dial and charged my guy, who was in an adjacent square. He made a breakaway roll and succeeded. moved one square away then moved back as part of the charge. Made his attack got his token.
Is this a valid strategy?
If not can someone point me in the right direction in the 2012/2014/2015 rule book(s)?
Also using hypersonic speeds doing the same thing as above.
As a side question when using hypersonic speed the break away is +2
does that mean when you make a melee attack as part of that action you get the +2 to break away from melee and continue up to your speed value.
1. If you use Charge, you'll get a Speed Token if you successfully break away, move and attack the character. You don't even need to actually move away from them, you can move to a different square adjacent to them if you want. As long as you move and hit an adjacent character in one continuous action you get the Speed Token. In simple terms, yes, what you described works.
2. With Hypersonic Speed you need to roll to break away before you make the attack, even if you attack before you actually move the figure.
There's nothing wrong with asking questions. Learning how the rules work tends to be good form.
"It is a fool's prerogative to utter truths that no one else will speak." "Prove you have the strength and courage to be free."
As long as the character actually moves 1 square during the action, yes, they get the Speed Token.
The +2 to Break Away for Hypersonic Speed applies when you're breaking away at the beginning of the action. You do not have to break away in the middle of HSS, if that's what you're asking. The Improved Movement portion of the power covers that.

Sure. It's kind of like breaking away to grab an object and then going back in to hit with it.

thank you sorry for noobiness.
Yeah, you activate hypersonic, make the breakaway roll, and now it's like any other hypersonic action. You can make your attack from that square then move away. Or move away, zoom back in to hit, then move away. Though if you fail the breakaway you're stuck and don't get the attack.
I feel better that my team was wreaked by technical correctness
the best type of correct.
3 speedforce characters versus Brother Blood and his minions is no match sadly.
Thanks again!
Edit: got me thinking.....

So if a breakaway attempt is made during a charge to attack the adjacent character and the roll is failed the attack is also negated or since he is still adjacent he gets to attack?
Just wondering since the wording made my mind question myself.
Thanks!

Reason: a question based on a response

When you fail a break away roll, the action is resolved immediately. This means that no part of the action following the break away attempt is performed. So, the attack does not happen.
