Well, Wednesday (08/06/03) is the anticipated sale date of J. Michael Straczynski's new Marvel title, Supreme Power. It also is the sale date for another reprint of the Squadron Supreme trade that was snatched up a few years back since it had the artist's ashes in it. So.....now you can buy the TPB of the book that led to things like Kingdom Come and Earth X, and get in on the ground floor of a new ONGOING Squadron Supreme series!!!

YES! Their original purpose many eons ago was to give the fans a fight between The Avengers and The JLA, that would never have been possible at that time. They were created as villains.

Yes, they are a beyond blatant rip-off, but after serving as a political statement for Marvel, they got some play in their own mini-series and then a bit more in Quasar and the Avengers after that. They also have a rep of being the easiest superteam in existance to Mind Control.

I'm really looking forward to JMS's take on them. More surprising was that A) This is not a Limited/Mini/Maxi series, it is an ongoing title. And B) JMS asked specifically if he could do the SS.

I'm all for reimaginings. I just like to remind newer readers of the source material, so they can get a better idea of what they are reading.

For instance. I love Supreme (both versions), but it is important to know about Superman to get the full scope of what the series was trying to say. Especially the pre-Moore run about fanaticism.

Speaking of the squadron, did you ever finish your mods? I'd love to see them now that I'm more familiar with the characters(halfway through the tpb).

I just finished Tom Thumb and I'm dilly-dallying over Amphibian. In the meantime, I did add Blockbuster, Major Victory and the Enchantress to my Suicide Squad completed pile, so hopefully I can do fish-boy soon and wrap up the Squad as well.

Blue Andorian: Hit a slight snag with RL timing and digital camera availability. I still need to finish off the Squadron guys, and I'm getting terminal laziness on Major Victory's stars. He's completely painted except for those stars on his blue upper uniform bit. I'm currently searching through old aircraft models to see if I have any really little stars so I can cheat and not mess them up when I try to paint them.
