Supposedly the following was posted to Wikid's Facebook page, but when I tired to follow the link the content wasn't available:
We’ve had many retailers and gamers alike ask us what the future holds for the Star Trek: Attack Wing (STAW) line of products. We’re excited to finally announce numerous new initiatives that we’ve been working on over the past year.
Our first initiative will directly affect the margin of all STAW products. Starting immediately, the discounting structure on all STAW starters and $14.99 expansion packs (past and future) will improve for retailers by 5% of MSRP. This ensures that retailers who have been running STAW events in their store are rewarded for their ongoing efforts to provide play spaces, increase community outreach, and support new player programs. Our goal is to provide an immediate boost in return on investment for retailers currently supporting the line, while enticing new retailers to adopt STAW in their store.
Secondly, WizKids will be releasing a digital version of the revised rulebook. The digital version will contain refreshed rules that incorporate rulings and FAQs released online, providing an up-to-date comprehensive rulebook. No need to worry - all previously released STAW product will be compatible; no products will become obsolete in conjunction with this update.
Our third initiative is to release a new configuration of STAW products. These products will have a lower price point and contain new content, but will not include ship models. While the new configurations won’t include ship models, they will note the previously-released ships customers need to purchase. The new configuration will offer a more cost-effective option for players who already have many copies of an existing ship sculpt. In addition to a lower price point, these packs will include a selection of updated content to support updated rules for ship models of the same type.
Fourth, we will be introducing faction packs. These faction packs will also benefit from the improved discount structure. These packs will provide a ready-to-play fleet of ships from the same faction that will allow new players to field a team while providing a lower priced value (per ship) to new and veteran customers.
Fifth, we will continue to increase our paint quality across the line. We hope you agree that our ships have never looked better.
Last but certainly not least, we’re excited to share that we’ve been exploring a process that will allow fans to submit their very own content ideas to WizKids. There may be limitations to this endeavor, but we believe the STAW community can provide many exciting ideas. There are many details that will need to be worked out before we can announce anything more specific about the submission process.
The new pricing will be implemented immediately, except in Europe where it will take effect in 2017. For all other territories, please check with your distributor. Product solicitations will be updated over the next few weeks. Please note it will take some time to bring all these products to the market. We hope to roll most of these products out in 2017.
We want to thank you so much for your continued patience and support of WizKids and the STAW line of products. We hope these new initiatives will help the game continue to flourish until teleporters and replicators are a reality… (or at least until there’s a human colony on Mars).
I got that as an email recently. Seems like a lot of good stuff could be coming for Attack Wing.
I get the impressions that sales of the game are starting to stagnate and this is their push to try and re-energize the product line. This may help Wizkids push more product, for the short term, but I'm not sure its going to do much to re-energize the player base and bring back players that have left.
They wouldn't be having this problem if they focused on the quality of the product over the quantity.

This times 50.
Their inability to QC their product, to playtest it for balance, and their crappy models, and the vomiting of releases ... is why my son & I haven't played this game in about 1.5 years.
X-Wing (FFG) beats ST:AW (WK) on all fronts. Except for the thematic material - I want this to be a better game, but ... can't bring myself to play it anymore.
We really liked playing STAW at our venue... That is, until they gutted and convoluted the rules by making independents a faction and completely trashing Borg. Not to mention the multiple "dud" boosters (tholians!). I'll be interested to see how they approach this "upgrade" and whether the new rules will roll back some of the heavy handed nerfs they implemented. They have a lot to fix. I'm curious how well they will do at those fixes.
Anyone know why the new Enterprise E repaint expansion is going for $100+?
It's got a code for a high powered ship in STO inside.

This is true, however it looks like they might be doing a "second edition" of the game with this revised rulebook. That could bring some balance to Fleet Building as well as all the rules corrects and FAQ stuff in one place.
That could re-energize players that were tired of seeing ridiculous stuff in game.

Time will tell.
1. need a much higher penalty for cross-faction use of captains, upgrades, etc
2. perhaps also a "max point spend" that you can use for captains, etc on each ship - there has to be some way to get rid of that Voyager build which rolls 7 defense dice, can reroll 3, and then converts 3 BS results to evades.
I haven't built a spreadsheet to calculate the likelihood of each outcome, but my son & I rolled it 50 times - we never saw fewer than 3 evade results, often 4 or 5, many times 6, and a few times got 7.
That ship is unkillable. Unless you gank the captain or one of the crew, so you bring something else to interpose and/or to gank any ship that might be a threat to Voyager.
Putting a max upgrade point cap of 12 or 15 points per ship (regardless of the slots they have) would significantly rebalance the game.
Regarding the Borg "nerf" - they kinda needed it. Though I think they went too far with it. Andrew Parks (in the BGG thread for the rules discussions before WK brought it back in) said they were supposed to be more predictable in terms of where they were flying. That the nerf accomplished. But they became a lot less "themy" as a result of the nerf - they're supposed to be bad ass, and take no (few) prisoners, not be just like tanky Vulcans or something.
Gotta be careful with a "max point spend" limit. You don't want to hurt fluffy builds in the process of trying to stop ridiculous builds.
Higher Cross-Faction penalty would be nice, but they'll need to provide something that aids thematic Cross-Faction theme (Dukat and Damar in a BoP for example).

Hard stuff to pull off, but it can happen.
Not that hard, just make a Dominion BoP or an Indie BoP with an Indie Dukat, or simply a Dukat that be assigned to a Klingon ship without faction penalty.
I actually didn't realize we had new conversation here, but I was following it on Facebook. I think it's a good sign overall. I mean, I want to see what they end up doing with it, but so far it looks good.
Ironically, I've been playing more these past few months than ever. I have a couple small competitive groups I've been playing with. There's a lot of factions that can really use these new faction packs though.
I don't really play anymore, but I might pick up a few of those faction packs for home games, depending on what's in them and how they're sold.
Home games is pretty much all one can play. Competitively, it's virtually unplayable. A local player succeeded in killing the game in central Florida. Not sure why he wanted to do that - but he did.
Visible Dials and Pushing Damage need to be optional. This is the way.
