Luke Cage is Power Man. Basically from what I remember he's big and strong. Not sure if he has any super powers. Daniel Rand is Iron Fist. I want to say he has some type of mystical power that he can channel into his fist (it will pack a very powerful punch).
I do remember John Byrne having a good run on Iron Fist back in the mid to late 80's. And if memory serves me correctly, Sabretooth made his first appearance in the Iron Fist comic.
Power Man and Iron Fist were the greatest duo ever to be formed in comics. The Heroes for Hire. They were cool separately, but like a peanut butter cup, better together.
PM: Lucas Cage was framed for murder and sent to prison. He submitted to an experiment to get a chance at freedom. He was endowed with invulnerability and superstrength (enough to pick up a bank truck or bus). He goes into business as a Hero for Hire. Usually he would end up broke due to his high moral standards. His greatest moment came when he blew off rich clients, and went to fight Unus the Untouchable for the incredible fee of one nickel.
IF: Daniel Rand went on trek with his family into the Himalayas as a young boy. His father's business partner went with them, and attempted to kill them all. Left for dead, Daniel was found by the monks of K'un L'lun, a mystical city that appears once every ten years. Over the next decade, Danny gains great martial knowledge and undergoes the right of The Iron Fist. This is a mystic ritual that enables one to focus there Chi energy into a single point to achieve incredible feats.
Hope this helps. Cage recently had a mini that is now TP'd. Iron Fist was in a mini with Wolverine not too far back.
For the greatest run in a team book ever, check out the last eighteen issues of PM/IF by Christopher Priest (then James Owlsey) and Mark Bright. You will not be dissapointed.
Our boys met (and later become best friends) in Power Man #48, and share double billing starting with #50. They enjoy a healthy run to #125, which is longer than some might think as they were bi-monthly for a long time.
powerman and iron fist are the best. one of my favorite moments in comics is when they had to sneak into the building where constrictor and sabretooth (their AE's in that era) were hiding out with a jade statue theyd stolen.) and luke was hiding behind lightpoles and boxes and danny was laughing at him for sneaking.....great writing.
for figs (assuming you mean to mod them) powerman.....bane with blades head. (luke is black)
An interesting bit of trivia. Nicholas Copola, a young an up and coming actor wanted to be recognized by his merits not his uncle Francis Ford's last name so he had to pick a stage name. Since he was a huge Comic Book collector he picked the last name of one of his favorite heroes. Yes, Nicholas Copola became an Academy Award winner by the name of Nicholas Cage.
