So I am playing the d20 Dr. Strange. On one turn, I roll and get Orange:
Quote
Give Doctor Strange a free action. Place an Energy Dampener token on each opposing character's card. While an Energy Dampener token is on a character card, even if this power is lost, that character can't be given a power action. Remove the token from a character's card when that character is given a non-free action.
Next turn I roll and get
Quote
CRIMSON BANDS OF CYTTORAK: When Doctor Strange hits an opposing character with an attack, place a Crimson Band of Cyttorak token on that character's card. Even if this power is lost, opposing characters with a Crimson Band of Cyttorak token on their card can only be given a power action to remove the token.
If Strange hits someone with the Crimson Bands before they have a chance to clear the Energy Dampener, correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks like that just permanently shuts down the figure. Period. If you have the Bands you can only take a Power Action to remove them, but the Dampener prevents you from taking any Power Actions. You can remove the Dampener by taking any non-free action, but the Bands say the only non-free action you can take is that Power Action to remove them.
Is there any way out of that infinite loop that I'm missing?
Or does the Crimson Bands' wording mean that the only Power Action that you can take would be the one to remove the Bands? Maybe I read it wrong the first time, but it's ambiguously open to different readings.
If a figure were to get BOTH tokens. They would first take a non-free, power action to clear the Crimson Band of Cyttorak token, then next turn could clear the Energy Dampener token, correct?
