Before I buy a few trades I wold like to know some people's opinions on them.
1) Thor Simonson omnibus. I heard nothing, but amazing things about his run,and that's why it's on the top of my list. There seems to be a second printing comin, and just wanted to see if anyone thinks different before dropping the money.
2)master race-with the trade out I'm willing to give it a try. I enjoyed the dark knight, and hear do the disastrous dk strikes again.
3) the button. I would like to keep up with the button, and what the watchmen will bring to dc. However most of my money is tied up with metal. However I heard a loyal dc guy tell me it was amazing, and that I should grab it.
With that what's your guys thoughts, and what is next after the button?
DC Metal or Dark Days, or whatever the whole shebang is called, has been uncommonly good so far. That is obviously not available in trade yet, but if you anticipate eventually getting it, maybe getting a trade of Final Crisis would be a good thing. While I wouldn't necessarily call it required reading for Metal/Dark Days, there are several references to components from the Final Crisis storyline.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
I already have final crisis, and I'm actually picking up all of the Metal stuff. Sorry if that was confusing I had to type that all in on my small phone. Its actually where alot of my money is going. For batman I was asking more on the lines if master race is worth getting. Thanks as always for your input though man.

I bought this collection the day it was available. I read the run when it originally came out, so I am biased in certain ways. This was the heyday of the Jim Shooter era, so there is some cross-over action but nothing that should confuse you. I don't recall it as being as 'wordy' as certain other comics of the era, it may actually be a good bridge for you to comics of that era.
I don't think the Button story line was all that great. I felt like I wasted my money. There were a couple big reveals that could have been done in one issue.
Master Race - I love Batman....but I am no longer too interested in Miller's work. I have heard it's pretty awful.
The Button - it's pretty good. I picked up the single issues between Batman and Flash and then I'd recommend following up with the Doomsday Clock stuff that is on the horizon.
Someone mentioned the Metal stuff above...I'm picking up the main series (not the one shots...although maybe I should) and it's not bad.
side note...I see they are releasing the first trade today for Super Sons - you should jump on that one...great book - maybe the best thing DC is publishing right now as far as their core superhero books.
