Scenario: A friendly character with no special movement effects moves adjacent to an opposing character who occupies the same square as an object.
Can the moving character pick up the object in question?
Quote
No. Once the character enters the adjacent square, its movement ends. Since it is no longer moving, it can't pick up (or put down) an object.
Does this mean that I can not put down an object with my last square of movement since my movement is ending?
A common play at the beginning of a game involving AI Groot is to use a Walking Wood to run out and fetch a light special object and then drop it off with the last square of its sidestep back towards the starting area under a character. (I used to do this myself...) That isn't legal though, is it?
Before being distracted by the glorious tasks given me by Starro, I too wondered this as Giant Girls were oft to do this at a recent ROC and we may have been planning a Walking Wood and/or [mumblemumble] strategy at the upcoming WKO
Moving into the last square of your allotted movement doesn't end the move, so you can still pick up an object. In the WIN example, moving adjacent to an opposing character immediately ends the move, which is what prevents you from picking the object up. Objects can only be picked up *during* movement, this works the same way as it always has (or at least, for a very long time).
TBH I should have thought about it a bit more before I submitted. The answer was as LJ said. The movement in question was ended because of adjacency. Thus there was no more “during” the move, and therefore no object could be picked up (or dropped).
Can my super strength character throw a heavy object underneath my stealth character - in the same square it is standing in?
If she was already holding the object and she moves through or adjacent to the square the stealth character is in, then she may put down the object in that square. You can't place an object at a distance with super strength.
Has there been an errata or clarification on this? Because I know the old rules made it where if moving adjacent to an opposing character would end your movement you couldn't pick up or place an object from square enemy was standing in. Its weird that with the new rules wording Wizkids linked that 2019 question to their 2014 answer.
With them removing the bit about

If entering that square requires that the character end its movement, it can't pick up an object adjacent to that square (the object must be in either a square the character occupies or in an adjacent square).
from the 2014 rulebook to 2018 version and adding

Squares that a character “moves through” includes all
squares it occupied during that move, including the square
it began movement in and the square it ends in.
2018 Rulebook Page 11
So I was under the impression you could now pick up /place objects that were under enemies.
If we break it down
1. Does the square adjacent to an enemy now count as one you move through... according to new rules even the square you end in is considered "moved through", so I would say yes.
2. Is the object in a square that is adjacent to a square that was "moved through"... I would also say yes based on the newest rules wording. Since they removed the bit I mentioned before from the 2014 rulebook.
I judge locally so I try to make sure I'm following the latest rules instead of blending old with new.

It's still the same as the old version of the rules in effect, it's just worded differently.
1. Yes, you "moved through" the square adjacent, but you had to stop upon entering it so your movement ends upon entering it.
2. Normally, yes... but if it's in the square you have to stop in, you have to stop immediately and are unable to pick it up from a square adjacent to that ending square.
-Heroclix is not a game of logic, it's a game of strategy .... after all, when's the last time that you saw a giant (using a stealth ability) that was hiding behind a swingset... and nobody could SEE him????
They should have just left the old wording in the rules. Its not like they trimmed the rulebook down to 15 pages or something nice lol. For a new player coming into the game its almost impossible to learn because us old school guys are partially relying off old wordings.

In some cases I think us old school guys are imagining wording that isn't there because of old rules, and certainly crossing wires on rules changes and confusing what is old and what is new at times.
Had someone at the event I worked this weekend trying to use the old "ignore half damage" wording of invincible.

At least that's an easy one to show them they're wrong. If only everything in game was as easy as flipping the couple page PAC
