I'm an X-fan and this was another great video, cheers Scott.
Rich history and musing on the X-men characters and your take on the sculpts and dials.
Nice to see an upswing in dial longevity too.
My only gripe isn't with the video at all, it's the double card/switchclix aspect.
Firstly, what is the point the switch clix on these? Unless I'm mistaken, it's not like they switch allegiance between Cyke/Logan/neutral; so why?
Secondly, like Secret Invasion, I think it's a missed opportunity to utilise variety between the dials. The small differences in the same powers, seems barely worth the effort. Had they gone with the same dials but where you see the white SP it is one power for 001 card and something else for the 001.1 card.
The switchclix could have something to do with the grand prize.
Like a team base.
Heck, it says the highest points on each side gets something. Those could be the team bases & the grand prize could be something else OR get both team bases.
Interesting concept.
At least I know what's going on now. I don't really do venue play but just like any of these events, they'll eventually get into the secondary market.
My guess is that this set was produced quite a while ago, hence the SwitchClix design. Or someone gave consideration to the fact that these characters (sculpts) can thematically work with the WXM team bases. Either way, I appreciate that I can easily remove the sculpts for swapping with other SwC dials and modding.
The grand prizes are "Beach Brawl" Cyclops and Wolverine.

The suggested format is to provide each player with 3 single figure boosters they open, then allow players to trade one figure they pulled with another player. If the player can then build a theme team, they can use the upgraded ".1" version of each figure.
At least that's what I understood from the presentation at Origins and from what I've seen on the Wizkids OP site.
