I do not know about the trading thing, but I do believe you get to keep the cards. You buy the packs for some of the events, and go from there. They allow 3 of every card for the sneak previews, so it should be loads of fun.
You know, My Local Wal-Mart had the Rise of Destiny packs before they were out for the previews. I will check that wal mart again sometime around the 20th-up.
By the way, all 3 of the ultra Rares have the potential to have decks build around them. The Gatling Dragon, being the first level 8 fusion outside the XYZ, can wreck havoc with metamorphisis.
