Don't dis the Phoenix Wings they are a great form of combined Hand and Field Control, playtesting 3 of them proved that while they sometimes got clumped they helped more than hurt I'd say by an 90% to 10% margin. It's especially mean to send a tribute back to the top of their deck. Great when comboed with Serpent or one of the tributes. Please help, R/Fs will be returned.
Well, I got the Apprentice and second MoF Sided if I need my spells back more against a certain deck. However, Reaper lends a hand to my control scheme, and Cyber Jar is great speed. I wouldn't part with Cyber Jar in this deck as it is a great way to get creatures out to sac for Phoenix. Thanks for the suggestions though they are appreciated even though I don't agree with them.
-Spirit Reaper
-Cyber Jar (sorta counter-productive with Wing Blast?)
+Apprentice Magician (grabs Hand or Magician, works with Breaker)
+Magician of Faith
EDIT: Wow, I just realized that another poster, TheNewGuy, just posted this earlier. I just want to add that you should listen to our mutual advice. Situational card like Cyber Jar are only bad risks and 3 Reapers is pointless.
yes the Cyber and 2 Swaps help, with Painful gone Cyber nets me a near equivalent amount of speed when his effect goes off. The 2 Swaps help if I already have a Phoenix on the field and happen to draw Hand, it works well with Pyramid Turtle, or a flipped MoF. This deck is packed with enough small monsters (1400- ATK) to make Swap a force, and the main way I get beatsticks on my field, by taking them from my opponent. I see what your saying about 3 reapers being too many so I will probably ditch one for an Apprentice or a MoF, but Cyber stays I'm just attached to it right now and I'm loving the speed it gives me. Thanks for your suggestions, keep them coming. No better way to construct a deck than by going through this kinda point-counterpoint kind of thing.
Just got done doing some playtesting against a fiend deck and a Beastdown deck, in around 10 matches I lost not one, I lost maybe 5 out of 25 duels. So this deck is working fairly well. I have also playtested this against Chaos Control, Skill Drain, and Beatdown never losing a single match. Does anyone else have suggestions?
The deck is good and solid, I have played against decks like these and have trouble but Chaos Soldier pwns still. well anyways, The Wing Blasts are really good because they are tech and people don't expect them, I say 3 is too much though, might wanna cut down 1 of em for another Magic or so.
Thanks for the positive comments, yes this deck is pretty solid. I admit Soldier can be rough to deal with some times but that's why the Kycoos are sided. Also you'd be surprised at how well a Phoenix Wing works on him. I've noticed most decks run only 4-5 light types, but when they summon BLS and then you bump him back up to the deck they have to remove another dark and light IF they have it. That kind of move actually won me a game once with him gettin a BLS while I had Vampy and Phoenix on the field I waited until he declared an attack and then bumped the BLS back to the deck, he burnt his only light in his grave to summon BLS the first time, and then he dead drew the BLS the second time. I won that game with Phoenix and Vampy killing him on the next turn. I realize 3 may be too many Phoenix Wings, but somehow it has been working for me so I kinda want to see how long I can ride that streak before it breaks. but I'd say a Nobleman will probably go in if the 3 Phoenix Wings falter.
This looks alot like my deck. Phoenix/Zombie Hybrid. I call mine the Resurrection Deck from Phoenix-V-Lords effect. One thing I've learned that really helps in hand control after this most recent ban list is Magic Drains!!! I love using it on a Graceful Charity, Pot of Greed, Delinquent Duo, or Lightning Vortex (3 cards!!)=OUCH!!
-2x Phoenix Wing Blast
+2x Magic Drain
-1 Spirit Reaper
+1 Berserk Gorilla (need another nontrib beatstick)
