Ok... let's assume that I have ONE solar flare dragon on the field at the beginning of my turn. now, I summon a second. does the fact that there is another pyro-type trigger, even though it's another SFD? and if that's the case, and it DOES trigger, and these are the only two monsters I have on the field, does this mean my opponent cannot attack?
If you have 2 "Solar Flare Dragons", or a "Solar Flare Dragon" equipped with "Raregold Armor" and another Pyro-Type monster, your opponent cannot attack.

You are correct, having 2 face up solar flare dragons on your side of the field will prevent your opponent from attacking.
