What do u think about BLS and CED's little brother-Chaos Sorcerer? Is it an overlooked card because of BLS? Is Chaos Sorcerer underrated in the current metagame? Or does Chaos Sorcerer just plan suck? What are your opinions regarding this chaos monster.
(remember, we are talking about Chaos Sorcerer, not BLS nor CED) =)
One thing is for sure, Chaos Sorcerer does not suck. It has decent stats for an easy-to-summon monster, and it's a very good topdeck if you have the Grave filled with the needed monsters. It's more limited than BLS, and that's good.
I believe that were it not for BLS, Chaos Sorcerer would be more than a simple common, but with the favor going towards BLS and with only so many LIGHTS and DARKS being in a Grave during a duel, Chaos Sorcerer sees little play.
He's a Level 6 Spellcaster so he's the easier way to summon Sorcerer of Dark Magic, who can negate Traps at will.
He's not limited AT ALL. So he can be ran in threes, which is VERY dangerous to your opponent. It means he's easier to draw and will see MUCH more play than BLS/CED.
BLS is considered "awesome" is because he has 3 uses (Remove face-up or face-downs, attack once or attack twice) and his stats are maxed out (3000ATK/2500DEF)
Sorcerer is just OK because he can only remove face-up and attack once and his stats are mediocre (2300ATK/2000DEF)
Still, my vote goes to "under-rated".
Waldo10032 – The Fiendish Duelist says:
------------------------------------- "Everything I know, I learned from Novastar, VenomLord, Magicien_Noir, KrazyKillRoy, Pyrofire14, Nataku, Jeff_Mop, Tamahome, mortals, KenjiBlade, Agentmage2012 and Tyloki. So praise me for learning so well when I'm right and blame THEM for screwing up when I'm wrong. (More people will be added to this list as needed) "
Well, if you have some protection, then you could use Light of Intervention with Chaos Sorcerer and it comes, basically, just as effective as Soldier would be since there can't be any f/d monsters.
Ho ho... Chaos sorcerer does NOT suck my friend, in fact, if there where more light fiends (Currently only Theban nightmare, desrook archfiend, and Reshef the dark being that i can think of anyways.) i would use this card, mainly becuase i have like, eight. but anyways, in attack, no his attack sucks, but he's easy to summon with a good effect, and as mentiond, he can be used to summon SODM
Chaos Sorcerer is an vastly underrated monster. It seems to me that people think of Chaos Sorcerer in the same light as Soul of Purity and Light and Dark Necrofear. I'd throw in Rock Spirit, Spirit of Flames, Gigantes and the rest of the Elemental special summons, but these monsters only require you to remove 1 monster from play to summon them. Chaos Sorcerer and Soul of Purity and Light require you to remove 2, while Dark Necrofear requires you to remove 3.
Looking at the stats of these three monsters we see:
Chaos Sorcerer ATK: 2300 DEF: 2000
Soul of Purity and Light ATK: 2000 DEF: 1800
Dark Necrofear ATK: 2200 DEF: 2800
Chaos Sorcerer wins for the highest attack but loses out to Dark Necrofear in terms of defense. However even if Chaos Sorcerer is turned into defense by Book of Moon or Tsukuyomi the only things likely to take him down are Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning, Jinzo, and Injection Fairy Lily. There are other monsters out there that could do the job, but not too many of them see tournament play.
His removal effect is also useful to help get rid of D.D. Assailants or even your opponent's Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning. Just think of the look on your opponent's face when you remove his precious Black Luster Soldier from play with a mear Chaos Sorcerer. Priceless.
I've been running Chaos Sorcerer in my Element Deck because most of the Element monsters are Light and Dark. He's been working like a charm. I definately think he is under rated.
Chaos Sorcerer is a great card I use to run two of him along with BLS it was good for a while until I found out that with BLS alone, the deck played out more smoothly. Now in the current meta Chaos Sorcerer seems like play, althrough one of the top 8 decks at nationals had a copy of him. Overall Chaos Sorcerer is a great card that sees litle play around.
Chaos Sorcerer is more like what BLS should have been. Chaos Sorcerer isn't bad, and I've had him used against me several times. Of course people will choose BLS over Sorcerer, but when you don't have BLS, it is the next best thing. I mean, it stands up to most of the normally used monsters attack wise, and if it can't, just remove the monster instead. I'm sure it will see alot more play if BLS is banned.
He is also an easy special summon that works great if you are running alot of tributes. Special summon him, use his effect to remove a monster (if there is one face up), and then tribute for something like Jinzo or any other tribute monster.
He is also level 6 which makes him good metamorphisis food. Just like the above situation you can use his effect and then morph him into a Ryu Senshi or a Dark Blade or something else.
this is just like what happened with chick the yellow
i used to play chaos sorcerer when started the game
it was very easy to swarm the field and empty my opponent's side of the field
i dont see why ppl dont make chaos decks with 2 or 3 of these guys along wth bls
they have plenty of light/dark for it and this monster is way out of league against beatdowns
The problem is that Graves won't have that many LIGHTS and DARKS to summon so many. LIGHT/DARK dumping takes a science that only the skilled BLS player understands, and thus running Chaos Sorcerer may have duelist dumping valuable LIGHTS and DARKS just for Chaos Sorcerer.
Just because chaos decks makes everything in the deck expendible, it doesn't mean everything is expended.
i dont think its great for swarming, but i dont see any harm im running one bls and one sorceror, bls is non searchable and limited to one, so its the next best thing we have to it for a light/dark special summon monster. if painful choice was stilla round, i have a feeling it would see alot more play than it does.
Chaos Sorc is good, but he's no BLS. My friend put it best when I asked him about running a Sorc.
"Look, there's a reason people un BLS and not Chaos Sorc. BLS is CHEAP. Cheap wins games. Chaos Sorc is fair. Sure it's ok, but you don't want fair, you want cheap."
