i was wondering a kinda simular question so i'll just ask for an opinion in this post instead of creating a new one.say the opponet has 2 monsters that have the same atk and i play fissure then i would get to choose which monster i get to destroy would it be considered as targeting?

Nope, in these cases where 2 Monsters have the same ATK/DEF, in this case ATK, your opponent chooses the Monster that will be destroyed, and once again this will NOT be considered as targetting.

no actualy the player who activates fissure gets to choose says so on the offical ude yugioh site.

That is correct, the player who activates smashing gets to choose.

the 2 main reasons its still not considered targeting are that 1) the choice is made at resolution, not activation, and 2) so that its not a sometimes targeting sometimes nontargeting effect (that would cause very messy rulings)
