If Skill Drain is active on the field and I attack my opponents D.D. Assailant with my monster, does D.D. Assailant effect activate? I know D.D. Warrior Lady effect does not resolve since it activates after the damage step.
Yet D.D. Assailant effect states:
D.D. Assailant:
When this card is destroyed as a result of battle with your opponent's monster, remove from play both this card and the opponent's monster that destroyed this card.
So, does Assailant effect trigger after the damage step OR in the graveyard (i.e. Mystic Tomato)
This question has been asked and answered quite a few times now...
Skill Drain WILL negate D. D. Assailant because she activates during the Damage Step WHILE still "face-up on the field"
Note that neither she, nor cards like Apprentice Magician state "...destroyed and sent to the Graveyard as a result of battle..." like Mystic Tomato and searcher's are....meaning that they are NOT Graveyard effects and activate on the field and the effect going to the controller and NOT the owner.
"Necrovalley" will NOT negate effects that are activated when a card is sent TO the Graveyard or that activate IN the Graveyard or that count cards in the Graveyard. So it will NOT negate the effects of "Sangan", "Witch of the Black Forest", "Black Pendant", "Giant Rat", "Mystic Tomato", "Kuriboh", "Graceful Charity", "Sinister Serpent", "Marie the Fallen One", "Buster Blader", "Shadow Ghoul", "Helpoemer", "Sword of Deep-Seated", "Vampire Lord", "Coffin Seller", and "Magical Thorn".

...AND now you can add Treeborn Frog to that list. Yay!
Woah, App Magpie doesn't activate in the graveyard? Well, now I can start not using DDWL on it >.> (After I spread the ruling throughout the local Meta).
Simply saying that with practically everybody having used Sinister Serpent and constantly asking if Necrovalley stops it, which it doesn, then it should be pretty obvious that it will not stop the Frog either because it's the same type of effect
Necrovalley stops cards that activate outside of the graveyard from moving cards to anywhere OUTSIDE the graveyard.
Examples
Magician of faith activates on the field, and takes a magic fromt he grave and moves it to your hand.
Kycoo Activates on the field and removes cards from play, moving them to the RFG pile
Fiber Jar includes taking the ENTIRE grave away, so it is negated.
These will be negated by Necrovalley.
But these will not. Remember, Necrovalley only affects the field very similarly to skill drain.
Treeborn frog activates in the GY, so is uneffected.
Marrie the fallen one, sangan, and mystic tomato dont take anything out of the graveyard, much less activate on the field, so they are completely unaffected.
Cards outside, on the edges of Necrovalley, that would usually provide a "lifeline" to a card into the Graveyard within Necrovalley would get blocked off by the power of the Gravekeeper's. However, cards can take their power into the Necrovalley without the knowledge of the Gravekeeper's, thus allowing them to slip past undetected.
Stuff like Premature Burial, Magician of Faith, Call of the Haunted, Spear Cretin, Fiber Jar, etc all provide those "lifelines" outside of Necrovalley, thus getting blocked off.
Stuff like Sangan, Mystic Tomato, Mother Grizzly, Flying Kamakiri #1, UFO Turtle, etc all take their own power with them into the Necrovalley when they enter, slipping right past the "barrier" set up, thus can't be blocked off.

Better?
the bolded parts aren't entirely correct. there are some cards that activate when sent to the graveyard that are negated by necrovalley because they attempt to take other cards out. agido and spear cretin are the 2 examples i can think of.
also things like red-moon baby/winged sage falcos are NOT necaged by necrovalley even though they activate outside the grave and take cards out of the grave.
necrovalley only negates effects that attempt to take cards from the graveyard, and nothing else (so things like sangan etc. are safe)
necrovally prevents cards from being taken from the graveyard as costs
necrovalley does not negate effects that involve no choice of what they affect. so things that take themselves from the grave like sinister, or things that take the monster they destroyed like red-moon baby are not negated. but effects that require you to choose what they take, such as agido and spear cretin are negated.
=====================================================
basically, necrovalley negates/prevents any alteration of the graveyard that involves you choosing what to take out of it.
the part about choosing is what lets things like sinister and red-moon baby to slip through. (did i just find a way to explain necrovalley with only 2 sentences??????)
I think you may have phiefer, which means you've done better than UDE in most scenarios back in the day.
All monsters with Gravekeeper's in their name gain 500 attack and defense. In addition, if an effect of either player were to activate and allow him to take a card and move it out of the graveyard, it is negated.
*edit* I belive there is a card that allows you to shuffle your GY, that shouldnt be affected by NV right?
i don't think shuffleing the grave would be prevented, since it doesn't take anything out of it.
the only fuzzy area is trying to word the "exceptions" to be clearer. its not really a matter of targeting cards in the grave, since some nontargeting effects are negated by necrovally and some aren't. it seems to be more attatched to if you choose whats taken. which like i said is why costs like bazoo are prevented since you choose what to remove. and why things like agido is negated even though its not targeting you choose which monster to summon.
and also why things like sinister aren't negated, since you don't choose which monster to take with the effect, its chosen for you. and the same reasoning applies to things like falcos/redmoon baby/etc. since you don't choose the monster to take from the grave, they automatically take the monster they killed.
so yeah, the "complete guide to necrovalley"
1) all monsters with "gravekeeper's" in their name gain 500 atk and def.
2) necrovalley prevents activation of effects whose costs involve removing cards from the graveyard.
3) necrovalley negates all effects that include takeing a card(s) out of the graveyard. (exceptions in #4)
4) necrovalley does not negate effects that take a predetermined card from the graveyard (such as the effects of sinister serpant and winged sage falcos).
is there anything i missed? wow, finally necrovalley's secrets are revealed. and with the exception of #4 its quite clear. and with the 2 examples in #4 should be helpful enough since those are the only 2 types of exceptions i know of.
