This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by sending 3 face-up Continuous Spell Cards from your side of the field to the Graveyard. When this card destroys your opponent's monster as a result of battle and sends it to the Graveyard, inflict 1000 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points. While this card is in face-up Defense Position on your side of the field, your opponent cannot select another monster as an attack target.
I just pulled this big guy from my very first Shadows of Infinity pack that I've bought thus far. To put it mildly, I was very excited. However, I several questions about him before I put him in my main deck. He's side decked currently.
1) If I special summon him properly the first time, can I use call of the haunted and premature burial to bring him back or do I need to tribute 3 continuous spell cards again?
2) If I attack a face up attack position monster on my opponent's side of the field and destroy it, will the 1000 points of damage to the opponent's life points be added onto the battle damage inflicted by the difference between his monster and Hamon? For example: If my opponent has Terrorking Archfiend in face up attack mode, and I summon hamon properly and attack the Terrorking and destroy it. Will my opponent receive 3000 points of damage from the difference of attacks between the two monsters + hamon's effect? Or is the battle damge negated and the opponent recieve only 1000 points of damage due to Hamon's effect?
3) The secondary effect of other monsters not being able to be targets, is this like Maurading Captain's effect or Vilepawn Archfiend's effect?
1) No, Hamon is a NOMI monster and must be Special Summoned the correct way again. If he exists in your Graveyard, you can't remove three face up Continuous Spell cards from the field to the Graveyard to Special Summon. The summoning is a "from hand to field" only type of summoning.
2) Hamon's effect to inflict 1000 points of Effect Damage happens in Sub-Step 5 of the Damage Step. This is after Damage Calculations are calculated and applied. So the opponent in your situation would receive a total of 3000 points of damage. 2000 from Battle Damage and 1000 from Effect Damage that's Hamon's effect.

Just as the text states "This card CANNOT be Special Summoned EXCEPT by...". This is the classic Nomi text meaning you cannot Special Summon in ANY shape of form except by the method printed on the card.
The only possible way to bypass such a requirement is if you use a card that ignores summoning requirements. The only one's that fit that category are Level Up! and Level Tuning (Modulation) and even Level Tuning requires you to have to properly Special Summoned the LV monster first.
AND the summon must be made from your hand unless a card specifically states you can do so otherwise. You CANNOT remove 3 Continuous Magic Cards from your field to Special Summon it from your Deck, Graveyard or Removed From Play Area.

No, the effect damage takes place AFTER the monster is destroyed AND after it hits the Graveyard. It is not "added" to the Battle Damage.
If you were to attack, let's say, a Don Zaloog, then you would inflict 2600 damage to the opponent during Damage Calculations.
After Don Zaloog is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, THEN Hamon activates and 1000 effect is inflicted to the opponent's Life Points afterwards. The monster MUST go to the Graveyard in order for this to happen, so if Banisher of the Light were to be in play, then the monster would be removed from play and never hit the Graveyard, thus the requirement needed to do 1000 damage with Hamon cannot be met and never occurs.
3) The secondary effect of other monsters not being able to be targets, is this like Maurading Captain's effect or Vilepawn Archfiend's effect?
It is somewhat like that...basically...while it's in face-up Defense Position, it's the only thing that can be attacked and nothing else unless some effect forces it like Dreamsprite, Patrician of Darkness, etc.

also to help since it seems like some of hdi's longer posts aren't always completely read.
monsters with special summon requirements can only be special summoned from the hand by their effect unless they state otherwise. meaning you should never NEVER ask something like "can i use its effect to summon it from the graveyard" unless the card says you can (in which case you wouldn't need to ask...)
also if the monsters summon requirements use the word "except" usually in the form "cannot be special summoned except by..." then that means that they can never be summoned in any other way than what is said on the card.
also although its not major, i wanted to point out that hamon is like marauding captain, but is NOT like vilepawn archfiend.
the difference is that hamon/cap'n only let you attacking anything except for themselves. while vilepawn prevents them from attacking "vilepawn archfiends" so 2 vilepawns do not creat a lock, since they don't protect other vilepawns.
if you had 2 hamons in face-up defense position then it would create a lock just like the cap'n.(although if you had 2 hamons out why'd you put them in defense?)
Yeah...if you want an Attacking "lock"..just stick with 2 Marauding Captain/Command Knight/Solar Flare Dragon/Soul Absorbing Bone Tower/etc rather than 2 Hamon XD
