I've always thuoght of it this way. Its a little cartoonish, but you get the picture. Both command knights just hold up those little arrow signs pointing away from eachother, and the opponent is so confused it cant attack.
Corny I know, but its how I remember it in my brain.
you can also attack directly if the opponent only has guardian kay'est(s). its got virtually the same effect as fisherman and has been ruled the same way.
the only time this would possibly happen again is if they make another card that prevents you from attacking it (and only it) that also happens to be immune to 1 or more types of effects. if they ever make another, then chances are you'd be able to attack directly.
other than that, any other 'lock' that prevents your opponent from attacking any of your monsters would prevent them from attacking at all.
also ring of magnetism can't create any lock, if you have a 'lock' set up and have RoM on something they can still attack that monster. and equipping 2 RoM's to 2 of your monsters would allow them to attack either one.
i don't think raregold breaks locks the way ring of magnetism does, simply because raregold armor can be used to create a lock. its the "must" on RoM that makes it different.
[Re: Command Knight] If "Umi" is active and you have "The Legendary Fisherman" on the field, your opponent can attack directly. But if you have "Legendary Fisherman" and "Command Knight", and no other monsters, your opponent cannot attack directly because of "Command Knight", and cannot attack "Command Knight" because of his effect, and cannot attack "The Legendary Fisherman", so he cannot declare an attack (but can enter the Battle Phase to activate card effects).
yeah, the direct attack only applies to if your opponent only controls fisherman and kay'ests (assuming the fisherman's effect is active).
basically fisherman and kay'est are "invisable" to attacks, so they don't affect your ability to attack. so if your opponent has any other monsters they can't attack directly since there are attack targets on the field. just remember that fisherman/kay'est are only "invisable" as attack targets, so they still count for things like command knights effect (as the rulings HDI gave said)
It'd also help to elaborate on what exactly you're asking....
Use DNA Surgery to turn f/u monsters to Warrior??? Plant??? What do you want to try to do???
Well, I figured it would be alright to put it in here with all the talk about attack locks from your opponent not being able to select the monsters.
And the plan is to use DNA Surgery to turn all your monsters into Plant-types, then summon Arcane Archer of the Forest:
"Arcane Archer of the Forest
Attrib: Earth
Type: Warrior/Effect
Level:3
Atk: 900
Def: 1400
This card cannot be attacked if there is a Plant-Type monster on your side of the field. Offer 1 Plant-Type monster on your side of the field as a Tribute to destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field."
Would just having Arcane Archer(s) on the field prevent your opponent from attacking like a Command Knight lock, or would they then be able to attack directly?
