This is a deck I have been wanting to make for some time, but the excessive use of Bottomless Trap Hole has held me up. But with the new list, and new cards in the metagame, I have decided that the deck concept has potential. Here is a rough draft with an explanation at the bottom.
Regenerate Control (42)
Monsters: 20
[1] Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys
[3] Vampire Lord
[3] Pyramid Turtle
[2] Spirit Reaper
[2] Des Lacooda
[2] Apprentice Magician
[1] Hand of Nephthys
[1] Old Vindictive Magician
[1] Magician of Faith
[1] Sangan
[1] Breaker the Magical Warrior
[1] D.D. Warrior Lady
[1] Treeborn Frog
Spells: 13
[1] Graceful Charity
[1] Premature Burial
[1] Snatch Steal
[1] Heavy Storm
[1] Mystical Space Typhoon
[2] Book of Life
[2] Nobleman of Crossout
[2] Smashing Ground
[1] Swords of Revealing Light
[1] Scapegoat
Traps: 9
[1] Call of the Haunted
[1] Torrential Tribute
[2] Sakuretsu Armor
[1] Mirror Force
[1] Widespread Ruin
[2] Dust Tornado
[1] Deck Devastation Virus
Now this is a rough draft, and it may be missing some things, but here are a few perks of the deck...
- Obviously the field advantage that Vampire Lord and Nephthys give you, rendering various effects in "cookie-cutter" decks basically useless. No one wants to use Smashing Grounds or Sakuretsu Armors when they provide them negative advantage.
- Des Lacooda as a rough draw engine. He does not suffer the same fate as Dekoichi and Skelengel because he is not a flip effect, he is easy to bring out with Pyramid Turtle, he is re-usable, and when your regenerating monsters are providing a tempo swing he can sit there and just use his effect without fear.
- Book of Life as a Treeborn Frog hater. In this format, with Treeborn and Choas Sorcerer running rampant, it can eliminate their threat. And let's not forget it's primary effect that will bring out a Vampire Lord that was killed by a Cyber Dragon or a Reaper when you begin a tempo swing.
- Using Nobleman of Extermination to your advantage. In my opinion the deck's biggest problem is Bottomless Trap Hole. Every deck I see seems to play at least one, and it can totally destroy a whole part of this deck (esp. if it hits Nephthys). That is the main reason I am playing Nobleman of Extermination, and I have altered my trap line-up so it doesn't hurt me. I am also running 3 Dust Tornados to eliminate the threat of BTH.
With this said, and the general stability of the deck, I think decks like this really have a shot. I do believe it could use help though, for example I can't seem to fit in Kycoo who is just awesome when Vampire Lord is tearing it up. Any suggestions will be appreciated and I'll try to return the favor. Thanks!
Yeah this is the same old zombie/nephyus deck ya see most of the times, just updated I'd get the deck together go on chat have a few duels and see what you could use good with other cards and what you, virtualy, couldn't use at all :) That is about all the advice i can give ya, seeing as how I have never used zombie/nephyus before :o So just keep what i said in mind and learn what you can use and how ;)
I like it, but brain control i think would work better than enemy controller
and you need swords to protect des lacooda
otherwise very sexy
I agree
i think that you should drop 1 V-lord for another Magician of Faith. I just think that 3 V-lords is too many and MoF is just sweet. Other than that it looks great.
I think you are right in your thinking about V Lord for the new format. The Problem is that Cyber Dragon and the Monarchs are all going to see heavy play and they all own Vampire Lord. The answer would be a couple of Rush Recklessly to take down monsters that would otherwise kill V Lord, Kaiser Colliseum to deal with Dark World or any other swarm deck, and what I've been running in my own V Lord deck with great success. . . Mask of Restrict which stops Mobius and Zaborg. Just think about it for a moment. You'd have to run a couple of Giant Rats to assure that you get V Lord out fast as they will search out Pyramid Turtle. And then while Mask of Restrict is out noone will be able to tribute to get their big monsters out while you won't even need to tribute for yours since you can simply special summon them. So For this reason, I run Chaos Sorcerer instead of Phoenix. It's been working pretty good for me and I think you would find that it is quite the anti-meta build. I do run Kycoo in my build but it is not easy to fit in the right combination of cards since you have to use quite a few card spots to properly support V Lord. But he is definately worth all the trouble.
Just an idea for you to try.
Now as far as the deck as it is. I'd say drop the Lacoodas for Giant Rats. I love Lacooda and play it in all my control decks. But outside of a control deck it is a sitting duck. And if you do add the rats I'd try to find room for an Injection Fairy Lilly and remove Old Vindictive Magician for Exiled Force. His effect is much more reliable and the rat can get him as well as Lilly.
Good luck with the deck. I think it'll be really good in this format without so many DD Assailants to remove Vampire Lord.
Think about it for a sec. How much does des lacooda really help you. With lots of search with the 3 pyramids, two apprentaces, and a hand of neth already; des lacooda wont do much good drawing the cards which you would summon from you deck uselessly to your hand where they can't be special summoned.
Thanks for all the advice. I tested it today and made a few changes. First I dropped the whole Nobleman of Extermination angle. It really wasn't needed, I just needed more monster removal. I replaced them with Smashing Grounds. I then added another Sakuretsu Armor in place of a Dust Tornado for extra protection along with a Swords over the random Controller. I am actually thinking of dropping the Apprentice Magician side of the deck for some more offense or more zombies. It really didn't impress me. I will take the anti-metagame suggestions into consideration, but the Cyber Dragons and Monarchs weren't much of a problem. If I get a regenerating monster out early, the opponent hasn't drawn into enough cards yet to quickly respond. Once I draw out more cards it becomes increasingly difficult for the opponent to tribute because I am provided with a constant offense. Cyber Dragon did come down, but it wasn't hard to destroy it and come back with some form of recursion a few turns later.
The deck is far from perfect, but I tested it today against Monarch Control and then my friend made a BTH heavy deck so I could see how I fared and it had a winning record. I'll test some more and see what happens, thanks!
You need a beatdown in case of emergency, and Ryu Kokki is the man for that. V-Lord is grea and alll, but if you opponent has Mobius, or anything 2100 it craps.
Could you return the favor? The deck is called Crane Control?, dont go to the one of the sig.
