So what is it? I barely understand it and my friend who I dueled today said it didn't exsist. Obviosly that's not true. But can anyone explain EXACTLY what it is?
Its kinda complicated in way just determining what kind of monstes get priority. My suggestion try searching for it in the search bar or asking Halfdemon Inuyasha shes good at that stuff.
If a monster has some form of ignition effect (they usually tend to involve a cost, but not always), then when A monster (it doesn't have to be the monster itself) is summoned in some way, then BEFORE the opponent can activate a Trap, you can use your priority to activate the effect of a monster on your field and the opponent can then chain to the activation with a card.
The only time priority is taken over is by things like Horn of Heaven, Solemn Judgment and other summoning negator's or by things like Stumbling that automatically take the first step of a chain link, thus not allowing the player to use their priority.
Such cards include....
Exiled Force
Tribe-Infecting Virus (banned)
Cannon Soldier
Catapult Turtle
Paladin of White Dragon
Dark Master Zork
Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End
Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning

Do you think that this is another thing that UDE thinks will go away if they ignore it? And who thought up this priority thing anyway? I would like to skin him/her alive.
Dunno who exactly came up with the idea or how it came into existence...but UDE usually doesn't ignore things...with so many things coming out that also need rules along with the cards that DO need rules regarding certain things, UDE has their hands tied with keeping everything up or putting things up and since.
Though, yeah, it WOULD help to have this sort of thing on their site.
Kevin Tewart at UDE kept saying that he had an essay in the works on Priority, but for one reason or another it never came out. Would be kinda helpful to have though...
I would take anything said in this thread with a grain of salt, nothing official has been said about priority . . . yet.
HDI gave a good enough answer of what is generally accepted as priority, however there is a lot more to it and it would take quite a bit to explain. Just know that it allows the player to add to an already existing chain, or to begin one.
Yeah...I mean...considering it's one of the top most asked about things (UDE probably gets tons of messages asking about it), you'd think they'd make putting it up one of the top priorities, lol.
