Fake Trap is the greatest card to come out to protect your trap cards. If a card has the effect to destroy your trap or traps, activate Fake Trap instead to protect them.
I have heard from several people on this forum using Solemn Judgment to protect their trap cards. Please, use Solemn Judgment for Jinzo or Royal Decree. Solemn Judgment costs half of your lifepoints. Fake Trap cost you nothing and it also protects your Solemn Judgment for when you need that card.
If someone can prove that Solemn Judgment is better than Fake Trap when it comes to protecting your trap cards, please, tell me why. I know people are using Solemn Judgment more now but try to see what a common trap card with great effect can do.
If you can support the use of Fake Trap, please, I would like to hear from you, too.
Solemn negates anything, more or less. in all honesty, I'm more afraid of my opponent summoning a Jinzo than a mobius. Also the fact that it can stop other things too. For example, you are doing fine but you need to negate a summon bad. Use it.
A.) Fake Trap ONLY protects Traps from things that would "Destroy" them, thus FAR limiting its use compared to Solemn Judgment which can stop Magic, Trap OR Summons (including Special Summons) and, as a result, also stops a majority of most widely used Monster Effects as well (usually results from Tribute Summoning or Flip Summoning).
B.) LP costs are not nearly as feared as when the game first started. Only time it seems bad is if it is used EARLY in the duel. LATER, which is when it is usually used does not hold nearly as much consquence.
Paying 1-2000 LP to stop that one crucial card of your opponents that could, otherwise, cost you the game is a very good tradeoff while that Fake Trap would sit there while you HOPE that one card happens to be m/t destruction.
Also, half your Life Points means that, unless you already lost and are at 0 LP, then you can still use it no matter how much LP you have left. This is a reason why I prefer some cards that pay half the LP over one's with seemingly "lesser" costs of 1000-2000+ sometimes.
C.) Fake Trap is only really used for protecting more Continuous Trap Cards...which is where it is USUALLY suggested like Macro Cosmos, Skill Drain, Stall/Burn, etc.
Really...if it was so great, it would've seen A LOT more use in Traditional given Harpie's Feather Duster, Heavy Storm, MST x3 (before restrictions and, given its rarity, not everyone had an Imperial Order to use) and such were widely used. Even in Traditional, Solemn Judgment saw some use in hopes of stopping Chaos summoning.

Fake Trap is great for continuous trap cards, yes. Most times a combo will be used involving Jinzo and Heavy Storm. It's aways nice to have that extra protection. If you use Solemn Judgment only when this combo is played then you have used up half your life points and now you're open for the kill. Been there, done that.
Plus, I don't play traditional decks and if I did then I would use Fake Trap because of all those Spell/Trap killers out there.
Solemn Judgment is a great card but I use them both. My decks that uses continuous traps are for a purpose and I will do everything to protect them.
my SL deck runs about... 29 traps or so and on top of that most are continuos. Solemn Judgment has always been able to work fine for the job. Fake trap is too situational, in a trap heavy deck it is harder because all your cards in the first place are situational.
