Even though were 2 days late on the TRG CotW, I thought I would take care of it for Sumosam12345. I don't see a point in missing one entirely, lol.
Well lets revisit the days of Legacy of Darkness, the good ol' days when Spirit Monsters were introduced, such as the the fan favorite Asura Priest, the flaming phoenix Fushi No Tori, the combat stopping Great Long Nose, Alice's late little friend Inaba White Rabbit, the scary Voodoo doll Maharaghi, the ever so beautiful Otohime, the lost warrior of thunder Susa Soldier, the mighty master of fire Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi, and the notorious Yata-Garasu.
Today I'm revisiting my favorite Spirit monster, Yamata Dragon ^_^.
Yamata Dragon
Spirit Monster
FIRE / Dragon / 7 Stars
ATK: 2600 DEF: 3100
This card cannot be Special Summoned. This card returns to the owner's hand during the End Phase of the turn that this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up. When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, draw cards from your Deck until you have 5 cards in your hand.
As with all Spirit monster they have that nasty drawback of returning to the owner's hand at the end of the turn which for the lower level Spirits it isn't much of a problem, but for the high levels that require 2 tributes it could be a problem with commonly used deck types.
With the release of Macro Cosmos and Dimensional Fissure the possibilities of combos with Yamata Dragon and other Spirits have increased since D.D. Survivor and D.D. Scout Plane works so well with Macro Cosmos and D. Fissure. Monarchs have taken advantage of Macro Cosmos and D. Fissure so why not Spirits.
Pros: It has a high ATK power, and when battle damage is inflicted you can possibly replenish the resources in your hand and gain advantage over your opponent.
Cons: It returns to the owners hand at the End Phase of the turn, and could very well make you loose filed advantage over your opponent, unless you run a deck involving D.D. Scout and Survivor with M.C. or D.F. turning them into continuous tribute fodder.
Well speak your mind on the might Yamata Dragon ^_^
Youve just inspired me to build a Macro Cosmo deck with Yamata Dragon and Hino Kagu Tsuchi. Althought i prefer Hino over Yamata because id rather my opponent lose hand advantage ove me gaining advantage but i will be running both.
D. D. Scout Planes have been the most common use I've seen for both Yamata Dragon and Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi through the use of Strike Ninja...
There's also the still-underused Attribute Double Tributer, Flame Ruler. Combine him with Ultimate Offering and you pay 500 LP and only 2 cards. There's also still the benefit of setting most of your stuff before doing the damage (assuming you do) to draw out more and still have your resources handy for yourself afterwards.
Also can't forget (if you read the thread based on it), The Mausoleum of the Deceased Emperor coming out in POTD. Pay 2000 LP to be able to Normal Summon the monster without Tributes.

Hajime Saito is doing the Card Of The Week thread too, I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier that he already did it.
